UPDATE 10/1 It seems this story will have a happy ending for now. The TW tech came this morning and after over an hour of troubleshooting things, the problem was fixed. After trying everything locally at my place, he (tech) called into TW central to get them involved. After some time troubleshooting from their end, somebody somewhere hit the right combination of switches and my internet speeds instantly doubled. And, sometimes, I'm pulling down 22-28Mb. Upload now holds steady at around 1Mb, so everything is right where it should be. I specifically asked the tech what they did to fix this, but he said even he didn't know because the remote tech had already hung up and moved on. I'm just glad it's finally resolved. We removed the second modem, as it was not helping anything and everything now runs back through the larger Arris internet/phone modem I orignally was using. The last issue I have to resolve now is billing, as I should get credit for the time I was paying for turbo w/o getting it. The TW tech was knowledgable and helpful. So I'm happy with things for now. I just hope these speeds stick around for a long time to come. ____________ UPDATE 9/29 After a call yesterday, I spoke w/a local tech who thought problem might be that I'm using only one modem for both my internet connection and TW voip phone line. So I went to the local office and grabbed a second modem (which they gave me no hassle about) and have just installed it for my pc connection. No improvement. Same speeds. Following his instructions, I split the ohm cable coming out of the wall in two, now w/one cable going directly to the pc modem and the other going straight to the phone modem. I was hoping this would solve the problem and enable turbo speeds, but that's not the case. A tech is coming wednesday to look into the problem on-site. I hope he'll be able to resolve this for good, because I'm really tiring of it. Will update this after. _______ 9/18/08 TW marketing states: Up to 15Mb down and up to 1Mb up w/TW RR Turbo! Flat-out BS. »/testhistory/1375232/fb131 I've yet to see my speeds EVER break 6Mb down and 500 up. My average is always around 4-5Mb down and 400 up and that is just the plain reality of it. Don't believe their crap marketing for a second. Still, it rarely ever goes down and usually holds at those speeds. I'm interested in Verizon Fios, but am scared to switch anything until I hear more about how it's working for others around here. I'm in Hollywood Hills West. My price is the 'all the best' pkg, including tv, voip phone and Turbo internet. Followup comments:
