Re: WRTP54G with 5.01.04 firmware
just tried again to flash with 3.1.24 firmware from the openwrt wiki (cannot find one on linksys site) and got this error:
Invalid Code Pattern
Right now the router is working fine, however I haven't rebooted it yet...

I flash my WRTP54G with 5.01.04 firmware and now I want go back, but I don't know the password because I did a factory default. Anyway I can let it go back to 1.xx so I can use CYT tool to unlock it?

Not sure if I understand. What kind of WRTP54G was it originally? How did it get to the v5 firmware? What are you trying to accomplish?

It's Vonage WRTP54G originally. I just play on it and don't want accomplish anything. Now it's version 5 but I don't have access to the Voice configuration any more.

Re: WRTP54G with 5.01.04 firmware
you can unlock again by using the CYT tool to change the password back to Admin/Admin, then reflash
OR
what I did was hold the reset button down on the router, to restore factory defaults. Hold it down for about a minute to do a factory reset, which will bring the router back to 1.00.62 automatically.

Are you saying a Linksys/Vonage locked WRTP54G runs on a v5 firmware (originally on a v1 firmware) will revert back to v1 firmware if it is factory reset by holding down the reset pin for about one minute long? If so, that will be cool.

Re: WRTP54G with 5.01.04 firmware
actually, what I think is happening is the router is reverting back to the factory settings, including all admin passwords and provision settings. at this point, the router provisions to vonage firmware, which is 1.00.62. of course the issue with this is that you are tied to vonage's firmware releases, which may or may not affect you. but if you know the CYT trick, then its all good.
can someone confirm this is what is actually happening?

I tried to hold the button on the back for 1 minute to do factory default. NO LUCK. Still version 5 after it come back. Should I connect it to internet and do it again?

Re: WRTP54G with 5.01.04 firmware
can you connect to the internet through it? if it has a connection, it should download and revert back to the 1.00.62 firmware

Re: WRTP54G with 5.01.04 firmware
Hey I'm thinking if we got someone to give us their backup file it might work. I've been playing around with hex editor, of my own backup file, but can't get it to backup once I edited it. the bin file that it creates looks very distinctive, if I had another back up file from a unlocked WRTP54g I would like to compare it, I'm thinking that I can maybe fool the machine it's a legitimate backup and it will restore the WRTP54G back to when I unlocked it. Hey just a thought.

Re: WRTP54G with 5.01.04 firmware
If you don't have the username/password to upgrade the firmware, how can you downgrade it? If you have username/password, just download the lower version firmware from Vonage and do a downgrade, then use CYT tool to unlock.

Re: WRTP54G with 5.01.04 firmware
on backup and restore you dont need the Admin password, you can do if from login in as user/admin pswd/admin but it must be a legitimate backup .bin file. This what I'm thinking

Any progress on this front? Any ideas on what constitutes a "legitimate" backup? What is the file size - is it as big as a regular firmware image?

Re: WRTP54G with 5.01.04 firmware
Hello at all! I do have a WRTP54G which has the Fonage stupid firmware on the router. But there is cure!!!!! It took me two days to find, but it worked for me and I had no problem any more. Now I'm using it with CallCentric. Also an UPDATE ON USER NAME/PW: user/user with new firmware 5.xx.xx from fonage. Here is what I had and what I did.
When I got the router yesterday, it came with the firmware 1.00.20 which is just about the oldest out there and it is one where cyt35/39c/46 does not work at all. user and tivonpw or admin/ admin or Admin/Admin or Admin/ blank or user/ blank all does not work. So I did allow my router to go online to get the new firmware and while it was downloading it and doing it's thing I found the website which saved me so much time. »celiom.googlepages.com/linksys GO THERE AND READ AND DOWNLOAD the file. Follow the instructions and yeah with user/user for »yourip/update.html I was able to update my firmware and now it is running w/no problem. So I hope it helped. HAVE FUN WITH FONAGE NEW USER NAME AND PW FOR 2007 |logon admin/admin and -update.html with user/user FIRMWARE VERSION 5.xx.xx

Re: WRTP54G with 5.01.04 firmware
It appears you allowed the 5.xx.xx update to download, then you went back to the 3.xx.xx version. Is that correct?

Are you sure you use admin/admin and use user/user in update.html? Tried many times on 5.xx.xx and no luck.

v5 is a Vonage firmware and v3 is a Linksys WRTP54G-NA firmware. To go directly from v5 to a v3 seems, one needs to have the Admin password to perform a firmware upgrade. Did OP have the Admin password to do this?
