It happens. Channel changes are necessary to keep any kind of TV system system organized. Comcast and many other TV providers occasionally have to make these changes -- no big deal, or anything irregular about this.

You are exatly right removed. We are in the middle of moving our channels are as I type. We are getting ready to more HD channels and we are out of bandwidth on the QAM side.
It is a necessary evil that has to be done.
I guess he does not realize the DircTv has moved channels around alot lately too

I actually want to see two things come out of Comcast (which I know won't happen):
1) Go completely digital, or:
2) Reorganize the channel lineup to resemble that of FiOS.

Why would a channel lineup that resembles FiOS be any different than the comcast cable lineup?

sansri88 @ 18th Oct 04:17PM:
Re: Comcast switches some cable positions
FiOS groups everything by genre. At least in my area, Comcast's lineup is out of whack. Everything is everywhere...
Complete mess, I'd love to see our lineup organized.

ahh ok, Yeah, even ours here with TWC is a bit outa wack, mainly because of the analog channels and the digital tier. They are more grouped by service tier than genre.

Same it's service tier over genre. Although, once you get into the digital range it's relatively organized:
200's: HD channels, Local sub channels, S&E Pack
300's: Premium Movie Channels
400's: Music Choice
500's: PPV, Adult
600's: Spanish pack, International programming
700's: Sports Packages (NHLCI, NBA, etc)
800's: Spotlight onDemand links
4 channels in 900's: Comcast Central

hello Sansri can tell you once you get into or see the HD,for instance on the discovery or animal channel, you'll think your tv has turned into 3D or your standing right in a field looking live
you can pick the package you want ,(start 145 channels),
I have 185,plus ALL HBO,ALLStarz,All Encore,ALL HD channels Package,(over 75 now, every week now adding channels) with 100 by end of year.
and our set is a little different then comcast,
you can program on your guide,so you ONLY see the channels your paying for or the channels you want,
which means i don't have to run thru the home shopping network or religious channels to get to the movies,
after filtering or customizing my channels I have 121 entertainment, movies local channels, ect ect
and i don't care if "'tom loves Betty, who is cheating on her husband bill who is having an affair with Barbara who is pregnant with jacks baby who is in love with the waitress, who is married to the truck driver, ( the soap opera's

Now, deleting the channels that you don't have or want is AWESOME. On the I-guide we only have the option to make channels as favorites, which is a pain to scroll through. If only we had the Microsoft guide, that allows you to delete channels.

Now they've given me yet another gripe. Monday in the middle of the baseball game - on came the Stepford Wives! Seems they decided to make a little lineup chage without informing anyone. I had to call to find out four channels were moved and WE was bumped to digital. (I guess if you like whatever that one is, you can pay lots more for it now.) Well, what can you expect from people who repeat themselves...
But I certainly would have liked to seen the end of the game.

thats another thing about DTV, they let you know As Soon as they know, when they will be switching channels or adding new channels, normally a full month in advance, we already know what all the HD channels are going to be until 1-01-2008

So do we, most of the time. Comcast is required to notify customers in New Jersey if any channel is changing position or it is being deleted or moved to a different package 1 month in advance. For channel additions, it is a minimum of 24 hours in advance. Most of the time, however, they will tell us a couple of weeks ahead.

THEY ARE NOT ONE THEMSELVES urgh do you work for satellite or something, your kinda creepy. anyhow without an efficient two way system satellite doesn't have crap compared to cable. cable companies will be able to compensate from customers who have internet and phone service with them for whatever dish has to...dish out...sorry for the pun.

Re: Comcast switches some cable positions
Oh yeah also ever heard of Switch Digital? once thats employed cable will have twice the carrying capacity of dish. but dish also brags about having more channels because they throw out there east coast and west coast feeds of local channels as part of there hype. if cable did that they would have the much more channels to offer. right now comcast does provide more channels in hd then dish.

Though not MANDATED likely that will happen in 2009, if the FCCdoesn't chicken out again like they did on the original 2006 all digital deadline. Cable will just to free up the bandwidth, even if just ED stations much less space, and more room for HD.... even HD two HD channels will fit in on analog slot... and like 4 sub HD digital channels.
And BTW a few major marketers have already anounced a stop to selling any further analog TV's.... thats a good sign this may all happen this time.

Well, my area is one of the first on tap to get SDV, so going digital only is probably the least of their worries.

Re: Comcast switches some cable positions
that brings a thought to me. lets say i give comcast 500.00 to allow me to rent a dvr from them. do you think it might be possible for them to then drop the hd dvr rate to like 5 dollars. ide save 7.99 a month and it would only take me like 6 years and then ide start being ahead of the cable dvr rate.
