Modem upgrade?

Hi, I have had many problems with my modem disconnecting periodically. It never was a big issue but now it's getting tiresome. I have been a AT&T customer for many years, and have had the same modem since I joined. I am using the Speedstream 5360 modem.

Is there a possibility I can get a newer modem? (which may in turn bring my down/upload back up to speed and fix my disconnection issues)

If you have a faulty modem replacing it with a new one will fix the constant disconnections, however if the speed is not what it is supposed to be the line (inside or outside) may be the problem, I would recommend changing the modem (Motorola, Siemens, 2wire, you can go with another brand but this are the supported ones)and then calling tech support
