Dolphin Doin's

Hope nobody minds a separate thread but I didn't want this update to get lost in all the well wishes.

Everyone's prayers, mojo and kung fu must have been strong. I just talked with our buddy and she's doing fine.

Dolphin got to the hospital around 9:30 this morning and only got home within the last hour or so.

The doc told her the surgery went well good thing or I was going to visit. She goes back to have the dressing changed tomorrow.

They have her in a brace from thigh to ankle and she is getting very friendly with ice. They even let her have physical therapy this afternoon just long enough to learn how to do stairs with a stiff leg and crutches.

She sounded great but still under the influence of the hospital's magic juice. They made it clear to her that taking pain meds before it hurts is much more effective than waiting until it really does hurt.

Jacquie can not bear weight on the leg for 4 - 6 weeks and I'm sure that using crutches will take some getting used to so I don't know when she will get back onto her keyboard.

I'm going to talk with her again tomorrow in the late afternoon so I'll bring you an update.

Whatever you are doing....keep it up. Nothing like success!

Read the other thread but I'm still confused. Dolphins don't have knees.

So...if she's going to be on crutches for a while instead of calling her Flipper we'll call her Cripper?

I'm sorry. Lord, forgive me. That was wrong. I should be ashamed...but I'm not.

Don't let the absence of an update concern you.

Called once late in the afternoon but missed her and got distracted until just a bit ago so didn't try again this evening.

Since today is yesterday's tomorrow, maybe tomorrow will be today's commitment met day. :huh:

Have you in my prayers for a speedy recovery.

Can't keep a good Dolphin down for long. I know that exercise is necessary for recovery, but do take it easy, Jackie.

We talked for a bit this afternoon.

She tried to cut back on the pain meds a bit too fast so last night was kinda icky but she feels better today 'cause she is back on them.

The brace contraption has a release lever that she is allowed to flip a few times each day that allows a pre-set range of motion for her to be able to move the joint. She's at 30 degrees right now and I'd bet that is PLENTY.

She misses everyone here. I told her that there are loads of well wishes and mojo continuing to flow her way - - she feels it and sends her thanks.

She sees her keyboard each time she goes down the hall but the idea of finding a way to get to it while managing a stiff leg and then finding some measure of comfort... the heart's wanting to but the mind's just not ready yet.

I told her I'd wait until Monday to ring up for an update. Soon as I have one, I'll share.

Probably need to post her phone number so we can check on her every hour on the hour. Am sure she would appreciate that thoughtful gesture. :)

You folks and your wishes are just too cool and that is what I just told Dolphin!

She is doing better each day. Learning how to be mobile with crutches is never fun and when you have to keep all weight off one leg it just complicates things.

I tried telling her that using crutches and making your shoulders hurt was good for taking your mind off the leg pain. Uh, I'm not sure that one went over well ;)

I'll check back with her the middle of the week to see if she has any plans for her big splash of a return.

Mean time...mo mojo :D

What a happy voice I just heard!

Jacquie is no place near finished with her ordeal but the improvement is pretty stark from my first call to her last week.

Life still has dragons but she sounds ready and able to slay them if they poke their nasty heads up!

She appreciated knowing that all of you continue to hold her in your thoughts. I suspect we'll see her back in the pool before very long!

Quickie Update for Ya

Jacquie sends HI to all.

She has been able to get to the keyboard but after being there for just a few minutes, the ouchies take over and she bails out.

She sounds great! There is some swelling, ugliness and discomfort that she hadn't anticipated at the incision site. Her doc is putting her on some antibiotics to ward off any potential infection.

She was logged in long enough to realize how many well-wishes and streams of mojo there are for her and she sounded tickled about that.

Thanks, everybody! :D. I am finally feeling well enough to play at the keyboard for awhile. I suspect that's because of all the helpful Mojo I've gotten from my family here at TD! I really appreciate you all.

I'll post more as I'm able. Keep that Mojo coming -- it works wonders!
