Just like the tittle says. I am looking to buy either SMF or MMF so I can practice my splices and termination I've looked on ebay, great stuff but shipping is way to high.

In addition to buying cable have you though about checking local installers and asking for some scrap? In most areas companies are always installing FO cable.

I wonder if any of the mainstream FO cable suppliers have a policy about giving away fiber? Try emailing Corning or others and asking for samples to practice on. Have nothing to loose.

OMG!!!! Companies??? they are like finding gold here where I live (Toronto) I actually post the same question on an electronic forum and a member says he has tones of left over cables :D thanks for the recommendation I wish fiber optic would be somewhat known here.

Speaking of corning that fiber just blows me away.

your local telco tosses lots of FO cable. Talk to the people who haul their trash away from all of the garages in your area.
