3 dynamic IP addresses?

I'm signing up with CableOne again and I've taken note that their 3 meg package no longer exists, so I'm signing up for the 5 meg standard package again.. but I noticed something a little different on the package I'm getting:

Data Features:

* Download Speed: 5 Mbps
* Upload Speed: 500 Kbps
* Email Accounts: 15
* Webspace: 99 MB
* Static IP Addresses: 0
* Dynamic IP Addresses: 3

Does this mean I'll have 3, unique wan IPs available for use if I connect a switch to my cable modem? I'm not exactly sure how that works.. so maybe someone could help me out on this. I was going to use a router instead of a switch mind you, but this has my mind wondering.

What are the benefits of being able to use more than one wan IP address?

Also, I was going to post this in the CableOne forum but that place seems rather silent and inactive.

If your devices do NOT need to share any info with each other, you can indeed use a switch off your cable modem and get 3 IPs, randomly. (It is more likely that you DO want to share printers, etc., so it is not a general help) I use it to get a wireless router than does not share data with our wired network, for guests.
