boontonflyer @ 6th Aug 03:35PM: Additional LCD Display and add Windows Home Server
Purchased another Dell S2209W (21.5" diag/ 1920 X 1080 HD Display) and added an Acer Windows Home Server.
Displays/keyboard(s) & "mice" are in office area. Cables are routed down through desk surface and through access opening in wall (under desktop) to opposite side of wall (which is under stairs to this level). The other pictures show the closet (under stairs) which houses the UPS, Computers, HP C4599 AIO unit and a Brother Fax/Laser Printer. The other side of the closet is open to the HVAC room which contains the network items :
a) Comcast Cable Modem (EMTA[ two phones lines + HSI]) b) Embarq DSL Modem c) Dual Wan Router (Symantec) d) Linksys BEFW11S4 Router e) Access Point f) Acer Windows Home Server + Ext. USB Drive g) Linksys 16 port switch
Total of five computers (three ethernet/two wireless) with WIN XP and WIN Vista OS's.
Paul PS: The cabling behind UPS/Comps is somewhat of a mess. Haven't gotten down on my knees to clean it up after the latest changes!

Are the desk and cabinets custom? They're nice looking without being overboard.
I'm referring to your work station. (I can tell your rack is a custom job :p ) replyboontonflyer @ 6th Aug 07:11PM: Re: Additional LCD Display and add Windows Home Server
Yes . Cabinets and worktop are "custom built in" to fit the space.
The space worked out well though. They always seem to put the HVAC/hot water heaters in the center of the basement. We ended up just building a room around it and including the understair area. I keep a small table adjacent to the network equipment right near the "system switch" in the HVAC room so I can connect a laptop for easy access if I need to do work on the network.
