vonage, dos 3.0 and cox

Will the router device allow for dos 3.0 speeds when plugged into a dos 3.0 modem? as the way i have it is

modem, vonage router (the one with LCD displays) and old linksys router. my ISP will hopefully be upgrading all of us to "3D broadband" hopefully soon,

dos 3.0? You mean the '80's era operating system? I doubt it could support a TCP/IP stack... :)

ok, i'll rephrase the question, is the router capable of sending speeds over 100mpbs up/down? or over 50mpbs or is there a limit on this thing?

if my ISP begins to offer speeds up to say 100 megs in say 10 years, (as were in a have not (no verizon fios) area) would the router be able to push that on to my linksys or whatever router i'm using at the time?

or,do they sell 100/100 routers (under $50.00) with an always on DMZ port? (doesn't require me to login to webpage, just connect, connect router and be done with it.

I assume this will allow for any speeds pushed by the cable modem.

There are plenty of 10/100Mbps WAN port routers on the market for less than $50, but I'd probably hold out and look for one with a gigabit WAN port instead. Cheapest I've found for those run about $60-65.

To answer your question on the v-portal, I don't know what the WAN port speed is. I think your still going to need a new router to take full advantage of DOCSIS 3.0 speeds.

ok, yea, so it would probably have to be modem, router, then vonage portal if/when we get the faster speeds. i assume the DMZ will have to be turned on though.

You may not need to put the v-portal in DMZ. That's never been a requirement when I had Vonage and now other providers.
