[MO] Overselling overkill in Columbia, MO?
I don't have much hope for an answer (even less one in the affirmative), but thought I'd try. To any Mediacom employees:
Are there any plans to improve performance in Columbia, MO? It seems as though this has been an issue for many years now.
Just as a quick example, during peak hours I'm getting an unstable 30-60ms to my first Mediacom hop (10.27.62.1). Off hours it goes back to around 8-9ms. Coincidentally, when that first hop starts acting up my download speeds usually drop to 2-6Mb. Not being an expert in the mysteries of cable networks, that looks like my area (neighborhood or Columbia) is stressing something out on my way to the Internets.
... and yes, my signal levels are just fine.

try asking for a node split and have them check the downstream as well as it upstream port utilization failing that, PM BAINCH

Well we just installed 3 new downstreams last night but dont remember where your located to let you know if they should help your service or not. There are plans to get more changes done in the future but dont know when they are going to be scheduled. If you want to PM me with your info (modem mac, address) I will look at it and try to find something out, or you can email that info to me at work espurgeon@mediacomcc.com.

Columbia is going has been under heavy maintenance for sometime everyday we are doing work in the area, I believe we up graded the whole coax gride to a higher MHz cables This is to days maintenance in the area,

Would these enhancements have been causing major slow downs intermittently? I am in on the Southwest side of Columbia, MO and our speeds have been very erratic since the 9/1/09 upgrade. For instance, this morning our speed is:

Looks to me like down port utilization. About the only thing you can do is wait for a port split

750MHz? I would think that 1GHz would be used because 750MHz gear is no longer made so is 870MHz. Last year my system went from 750MHz to 870MHz. TWC is going to deploy SDV on my system in addition to the bandwidth increase of last year. I currently have 52HD channels and digital simulcast and 80 analogs.

625Mhz with 750Mhz actives (amps/line extenders)... so we are changing out all the old 600 Mhz passives (taps/splitters) to fully utilize the 750Mhz

For the past 2-3 months I've had some intense lag and low download speeds at night, along with frequent disconnects some weeks. Usually the lag and download speed drops are between 8pm and midnight, but today it's been slow all day long.

Once again, quite a while later, my speed as of 12:28 PM.
The last week during the day it started to get a bit better, going up to around 5 down during the day and staying at 3 down at night, but it's back to being crap again.
