[Need Info] No more VCR timer?
Insight in BG KY - we discovered last night that we can no longer set a VCR timer - ie to autotune to a channel for recording. I do not have the cable supplied DVR box - just the standard box for digital cable. I spent about 20 minutes on hold and finally talked to support last night and they told me they made an upgrade and to get that functionality back I had to go to the office and get a different box. That seems very strange to me - has anyone else experienced the same problem?

Doesnt sound like an upgrade to me lol . I have the HD DVR and i noticed that since the software upgrade that you cant turn off the auto tune. Its still on the menu but it is enabled no matter what its set on. If you can afford the DVR you should get it. It sure makes recording shows easier.

We have our own Philips DVR - it is a little less convenient to set a recording up in two places but usually it is just once per show. We don't have a high def TV so no need to get HD at the moment. I'm beginning to wonder if this is Insight's way of trying to push me toward their DVR.

Re: [Ned Info] No more VCR timer?
We called again and this time they sent someone out. Local support seems to be uninformed on the issue because the guy that came out had to call back to the office. They insisted that it would auto tune but he proved them wrong. Their explanation was that they got an update and they pick and choose the features to be included and apparently they dropped that feature - it is only available now on the DVR. I think that proves my assumption that they are trying to push me to their DVR. I don't really want to go that route because of situations like this. They can't push any changes to my DVR but I am at their mercy with their DVR.

Do you know WHICH model of box you have?
I thought I read somewhere where certain older models of the Moto boxes (think DCT2000 series) lost the feature recently, due to them being so "memory challenged".
