No answer when Phone Rings, DSL filter problem?

I signed up for DSL Extreme and it was activated this past week. Overall it has been good except for one small problem. Sometimes when the phone rings, I pick up and hear nothing. This has happened four or five times. The DSL connection is in my bedroom, and the phone/filter is in the living room. Could it be a faulty filter? They supplied me with four. Should I just go out and buy a higher quality one somewhere else.

Hi,

Make sure that everything else in the home is filtered (But not the modem). Fax machines, Security alarms, or that phone in the garage that you never think about. Do you also have a new wireless router or is the modem wireless? If you are using a cordless phone and a wireless router/modem the 2 devices could interfere with each-other.

Hi cheapedy -

If you unplug the modem from the phone line, call your home phone number and pick up the phone that is having issues, do you still have a problem? Do you have a problem on all of the phones in the house or just that one? If it is just that one have you tried swapping it with another filter to see if that works?
