The modem was set to bridged mode and the Linksys set to a PPPoE connection. However, a few months ago the Linksys stopped authenticating the PPPoE connection. When I logged into the Linksys' configuration page, and manually tried to make it connect, it returned "Can't get an IP address from PPPoE Server". I don't know why this happened. I never changed anything on my side. I assume AT&T changed something on their end. The only way I could get my Linksys to function again with my Westell was to set the Westell to do the PPPoE authentication and set the Linksys to DHCP.
For reasons I won't go into, I would prefer to have my Linksys doing the PPPoE authentication. Can anyone assist me in finding a way to get the Linksys to do the PPPoE authentication again?
I have updated both the Westell and the Linksys to the latest firmware and have factory reset my Linksys and repeated the steps listed in the FAQ to the letter. But the Linksys still will not authenticate the PPPoE connection.

Thank you for the link. However, that article says to manually set the MTU to 1492 on the Linksys. I already had it set to that. -- What If ... replyAirwolf7 @ 11th Oct 09:40PM: Re: Problem with Westell Bridged Mode and Linksys WRT54GS
Just to clarify, you changed the setting from Auto at 1492 to Manual at 1492. Is that correct? replytadwood @ 15th Oct 09:52AM: Re: Problem with Westell Bridged Mode and Linksys WRT54GS
Yes, that is correct. replybrominated @ 3rd Nov 04:34PM: Re: Problem with Westell Bridged Mode and Linksys WRT54GS
Did you find a fix? I am having this problem too, and can't bridge the modem. It's creating a problem for open ports. reply
