I recently got rid of my analog Tivo and got the RCN HD-DVR. I don't have an HD tv--just got the box because of the coming "crush" and my Tivo would no longer work right (could only record the channel being watched). Anyway, I have 3 other tv's with SD boxes. Accuweather channel and TWC work fine. On the Motorola (the new one) box, there is no sound on Accuweather 12 or TWC 35. Just those two. I must have done something, but have been all over the menus and can find nothing. Anybody ever hear of this weird thing? Thanks.

I recently had a similar problem with just one of my channels too. No audio. Below is the response I received from RCN Technical Support. It worked!

I’m sorry to hear that there’s no audio in channel 604. To resolve the issue, kindly follow these steps:

1. Check if there’s SAP/MTS button on the original TV remote. If there is, press it once. If none, press the menu button on the TV itself. A menu should pop up and check for the setting like SAP/MTS/mono/main/stereo. Choose any of these until there’s a sound.

2. If you have a home theater system, turn it on. It’s possible that the system is controlling the volume.

I also reported this to the other department for them to further check if we’re having issue with channel 604. As of now, no reported maintenance.

Thanks. I tried all that. I found that I do get sound, but only through my home-theater receiver (optical digital output from DVR) . Once in awhile I get sound straight from the TV on a commercial---then it goes mute again. This is very strange. At least I can hear the channels if I turn the stereo on.
