how do i get a pingable ip so i can do a line test i run off of my dads router and modem so please any help would be great

We need more information to help you become pingable.

1. What kind of router and/or modem do you have?
2. Do you have any firewall software on your computer? Name any "security suites" as they usually have a firewall component.
3. What operating system is running on your computer?
4. If running XP SP2 or higher (Vista and 7 too), check to see if Windows Firewall is enabled (Start > Run > "firewall.cpl" and click OK)

router is a wrt54gs linksys use a motarola surfboard modem windows xp 32 bit home service pack 3 only firewall is the one that came with windows

for the router »portforward.com/english/routers/···thTV.htm scroll down to the section to Block WAN Request you need to disable it.
