[Future9] Voicemail Problem
My phone started sending all my calls to my voicemail. It does not let the home phone ring at all. The caller gets a message about extension ##### and I have gotten two important phone calls this evening and they were sent to e-mail which I happened to find by accident just a few minutes ago.
I turned voicemail off and now the caller to my F9 home number gets a short blurb "mailbox". The home phone does not ring even once. I called it from my cell phone to test it.
I have changed no settings as I was receiving calls before.
HELP, I need my F9 home phone to ring! I have an answering machine so voicemail is not critical, but would be nice if it would pick up on a number of rings that i set. or if the phone is in use.

It sounds like you lost registration. Try rebooting your modem and your ATA.

Surprise, now my home phone is ringing again. Don't know what happened but I received a call. A gremlin somewhere.
Can F9 voicemail be turned on to answer after a certain number of rings or does it automatically send all incoming calls to voicemail?

Changing the timeout length (in seconds) will affect when calls get sent to voicemail.
If your device isn't registered properly, then it will go to voicemail unless you have a priority 2 destination set.

Re: [Future9] Voicemail Problem
I don't see any server issues today, so my guess is someting broke between your ISP and ours or something to that effect. Your ATA then didn't recover for some reason - maybe a stale entry on your modem or router (it happens).
The easiest solution is to reboot the modem, router, and adapter in this order.
This shouldn't happen often (actually it's quite rare). I assume it just happened once - but if it happens often then it's a settings problem.

For the benefit of others I will ask this question in here:
Is there a way to set up how long the phone tings until the voice mail system picks up?
Thanks in advance for your response.

Change the timeout (in seconds) in the phone numbers section on the control panel.

Well thanks for the timely answer. I tried to lookup this answer high and low in the FAQ with the search function (I also searched dslreports) with no success.
I would hope that this kind of setting would be part of the voicemail area in my account. It makes sense, no?

Check out the HOW-TO section:

(namely, the "How do I change the number of rings before the call is sent to voicemail?" question)

Good idea. I'll see if we can do something about that.

Thanks Nitzan for your attention to this feature because in my opinion it can benefit many people (since so many users probably use voicemail anyway).
