That is a crappy flash test! I don't have Flash Player and if I did I would never use it for a speed test as they are totally inaccurate...grossly inflated. Flash test just sees the power boost crap and not the real speed.
As for their ping test, what silly junk. I own Ping Plotter Pro and there is a free version also and it is a lot more useful.

Re: Pingtest.net
Lol Inflated my a**
I am in a former Adelphia area. During the test my speed ranges anywhere from 3Mbps to the speed you see above.
So either Powerboost is on steroids or The test or my connection is buggy.
Edit: I should mention my advertised speeds are 15/.768

Re: Pingtest.net
Clifrro you are using kaspersky internet security right?
I can do the same if I turn on HTTP scanning in my KIS 2010.
this is why ping is 36 on your speed test.

Re: Pingtest.net
I believe you, I was being sarcastic about the numbers not being inflated.
However, I turned off the Web Scanner and it almost looked normal for a second, (19Mbps) then right at the end it jumped up to 100+ again.
Here it is with Web Scanning turned off.
Turned on, and no its not backwards.
And just for more info, I download normally @ 1.4-1.8 MB/s
I'm already considering moving back to Avast! and I've only had Kaspersky installed for about a week.

Re: Pingtest.net
Well avast sucks. Turn off http scanning and that's it. YOu really care about speedtests? or how secured you are. KIS is great. I would recommend you stay with it

Re: Pingtest.net
I have been using avast since leaving Kaspersky due to a new update for KIS 7 causing BSOD's. Well actually I tried AVG for about a week, till it spazzed out while playing Project Torque.
But I have remained clean for the almost 2 years I have been using it.
I do not care about speedtests. I do it occasionally to make sure I'm getting at least close to my advertised speeds. (Remember former-Adelphia areas generally suck)
Edit:
Avast is also not Intrusive unlike KIS, It actually asked me if I trusted one of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games....WTH?
And here is a result sans KIS

I hate generalizations.
Not all former Adelphia areas suck.

Re: Pingtest.net
Would be a nice tool if the 2 closest servers(NY and Philly) still actually worked when I test. They do clearly work for speedtest.net. Anyways, here is the closest that is working atm.
However, distance does not affect bandwidth nearly as much, provided your TCP stack is working as it should.
Both tests done using Linux with Broadcom based 802.11g card and router(modem is downstairs near cable entry point).
Edit: Using RR standard advertised 10/1 with 50% Powerboost(for standard and up)
