[DTA] comcast dta remote

Does anyone know of any universal remotes that work with the Comcast DTA? Also, is there a way to block channels from showing up when you channel up or down on the DTAs remote? Thanks.

It comes with a universal remote. As for the other question I don't know. Are you talking about a parental control thing, or do want to skip empty channels?

Here's a manual for the DTA: »www.comcast.com/digitalnow/Conte···er_2.pdf

As far as I have heard there are no universal remotes that work with the dta other the the very simple and easy to use one that comes with the dta. As for blocking channels there is no to lock out unwanted channels. As far as parental control you have to activate the vchip in your tv using the remote that came with your tv.

The DTA's are using a new remote coding scheme that few pre-programmed universal remotes currently support. For now, only a learning or programmable remote may support them.

The same also appears to be the case for the DCX series cable boxes, although they also support the older DCT/DCH codes.

There is more to a universal remote than just power and volume control.

Don't shoot the messenger. I just looked it up. I don't actually have one of these yet.

I want to thank everyone for the info. I was looking for a second remote. My old learning remote could not handle the DTA. Has anyone had any success with any brand of remote?

I have a Sony Remote Commander RM-VL600. It was able to learn the DTA's functions with no problem. It also has four system buttons that can be programed to shut multiple devices on/off in sequence. It's not expensive ($20 at Amazon) and works very well.

The URC R-6 Universal Remote is a learning remote that works with the Comcast Pace DTA and a number of TVs that won't work with the Pace remote.

Re: [DTA] comcast dta remote

I am running into 2 other annoyances with this Comcast DTA situation:

1. The remote only works from 6' away or closer, so I have to walk closer to get it to change channels.

2. For some reason, the DTA is compressing sound. My living room set uses my stereo for sound, not the TV speaker and at maximum volume, I have trouble hearing. sigH

Did you try the IR thing that plugs into the back? I think that extends the range. Its purpose is so you can hide the DTA but maybe it extends the range as well. Did you take the piece of plastic covering the window?

Were these DTA"s designed by a high school student?

I'm unable to turn mine off. It that normal?

Re: [DTA] comcast dta remote

I just tried for over 10 feet away and it worked.

I notice the sound is lower than without the DTA too. I have the DTA volume maxed out. I'm mean, I can make the volume louder with my TV's remote(the TV's volume is at 40%) but why is the volume lower through the DTA?

Also when you're surfing, it gets hung up on the "Future" channels. Why does it even show those channels if there's nothing on them?

These DTA"s are POS's on purpose to get us to get standard STB's.
I'm glad I won't need one for my room.
Edit:Is there a diagnostic mode for these things?

Re: [DTA] comcast dta remote

Yeah. And there's also a way to make it control your TV's volume. Its in the instructions.

Re: [DTA] comcast dta remote

If your DTA is made by PACE, I have the directions to raise the volume of the DTA itself.

I am unsure if posting the directions is permitted.

Re: [DTA] comcast dta remote

feel free to tell us stuff that you know chasingveron

remember guys the reasons this box (DTA) is crap is because it is made to be cheap in the first place, because so many need to be in place, for eventfully every cable customer thought out comcast, but it will still take time to produce that many!!!
