[HD] Comcast of Union: ~40 HD channels coming Nov 5th
Our site is now up.

It's actually 38 HD channels being added since we already got HD PPV, NBA HD and NFLRD HD, and the HD On Demand link doesn't count. That would put us at 80 HD channels (42 currently). We would still have a decent amount of room though, so it looks like the second wave could be bigger.
Note: The limited basic HD channels (current ones that are moving and new ones being added) are going to be added on or about 10/28.

QVC? Oh, yeah, can't wait for that.

Well, I just answered my own question. Clicking on the print new channel lineup brings up a list of all the new channels, including F/X, MGM, Comedy Central, and many others. It also says they will be added on or about Oct. 28, so maybe I won't have to wait until Nov. 5.
At least I can watch It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia in HD.

while i am happy with the first wave of channels, i am wondering why we did not get the same channels as everyone else. You would think with us all being converted digitally, that it would be easier to just give everyone the same channels at once.

read carefully, only the limited basic HD channels that are being moved/added (eg, cbs, nbc, fox, qvc, wgn, etc) are being added on the 28th.

Wow for years you guys were left out. Boy how the tables have turned. Now you guys are on the forefront of innovation while Central PA swapped places and lies stagnant.
Congrats, you'll finally have service worth paying for! The people stuck with CC in apartments or places where there's no sat signal will finally be blessed with a provider that actually cares to put a little oomph in their product.
Regarding premiums, you don't really need them yet at this point. Most of that content is available in HD on Demand under the Premium Channels menu. So that can wait. Be happy that your getting up to 80 HD's right now. I believe we have 41 or 42 in my market and there's no digital transition here despite being a Motorola market.

i agree cypher. I am in an apartment where my only option is CC. They just laid the fios lines the other day and apparently we may be able to get fios Q1 next year. But to be honest, as long as the channels keep coming, along with a new guide and tru2way, it may be worth the wait.

Here's an important question.
According to the new channel lineup, the networks (CBS, NBC, etc.) are moving to the 800's. Right now they are in the 200's. Does this mean I will have to reset all of my season passes on my DVR?

I think in the short term the locals are going to be mapped in the 200s and 800s.
FWIW here are some of the channels we *aren't* getting in the first round of adds:
816 HLN HD
834 Style HD
836 WE tv HD
841 truTV HD
865 TV One HD
867 G4 HD
885 Fuse HD
890 TCM HD
893 IFC HD
Of those 9 channels listed, I only really would want IFC and TCM. Don't really care about those other ones.
I wonder what our next batch will look like.

This must be a New Jersey problem, people can not read these charts, just earlier this week 2 other people from 2 other systems complained about not seeing FX HD and i had to tell them it is on channel 824 in their respectful individual threads!! It will be on channel 824 on every system in our area sooner or later!!! and i have to track 8 charts!!!

sure, the 1 day I don't go obsesively looking for this news, here it is. I'll have to go through later and make a list of what I want next besides the premium movie channels.

Hey bal, Comcast of Central NJ 1 was the cable system migrated after Union and Meadlowlands, but per rumors (from certain sources here) had still to much analog to go first, so Meadlowlands got push up a week, and then Union over the next 2 weeks, (Union still needs 3 QAM spots to get those other 9 HD) and (some areas need additional 3 QAM for areas that still do not have Doscis 3) and then the guys over Central NJ 1 should get their notice, rumors are saying you too have more analog then the other systems and the same thing could happen to your system as well, Comcast usually does the Easy systems first and takes their time on the more difficult system later, (Union was always a very painful system) they do the same thing here in PA also!!! So it would be wonderful to know how many analogs would you have left if you lost all your expanded basic!! if you have less than 20 you are totally good, if 20 to 25, a little delay to about now, if more than 25 your going to be doing what Union is doing now, if more than 30 like in Reading or your sister System feeds from them also like Pottsville your Next Year!!

now I have a question, not necessarily about the changes or new lineup, but sort of. the lineup lists WLIW HD and WNJN HD, with WNJN HD as being "new". We currently have a Digital version of each of those channels (I guess you'd call them DT-1), but they aren't in HD. does this mean that we'll be getting them switched over to a real HD feed, or is it just a misleading name for what we already have?

Since you seem to have the "heads up" on stuff, do you have any idea when the "world of more" will come to the Jersey Shore[Ocean County system]? seems the 800 channels are all set with just NFLRZ[861], TCNHD[856] and the searchlight channel in use. you arent alone cypher. I've always said the pittsburgh regions is always left behind. At this rate it will be 2012 before my area sees all of the channels everyone else is getting.
I know why too. Because all of the seniors in this area go complain to their elected officials everytime they remove a channel because "i can't beleive you are making me get a digital box now and i gotta pay more to receive that channel."
So comcast says, ok you want analog still now you don't get any new channels. So we are stuck in the stone ages because the older people don't want digital boxes. Go figure.

There is a good reason for that. If you go to the link in the original post, F/X HD is not listed. It is only when you click on the "print the new channel lineup" that all the new channels are listed.

I was so ready to switch to FIOs last year but my complex is like the last area in Scotch Plains to get hooked up. Now, with all this, I am going to be hard pressed to make any switch since now Comcast has all the channels I want in HD and has MSG and SNY in HD as well which Verizon does not.
Right in time for UFC 105: Couture Vs Vera (Nov 14) on Spike too! :) I was hoping it would get added in time for that one.

hey bal, guess what your area of Central New Jersey 1 at least now has there PDF list, as i said it would be available earlier this week, and just like i said earlier, they will also do what there are doing in Union system by adding the Basic HD first, the only difference is that Central New Jersey 1 does have less analog than the Union system so they will be getting those 9 HD channels also, that will not be on in Union system yet!!!, the only real difference is that there area (Central New Jersey 1) coverage is split between two regional broadcast zones, so one group of Broadcast channels for 1 group and different ones for the 2nd group, so now the trio of Union, Meadowland and Central New Jersey 1 are or will be done Phase 3 very shortly, and then they will start planning (Phase 4-which would be Premium channel in HD's but because some areas really have too many broadcast networks this phase will not be based on first come, first served basics but on individual system available bandwidth , which means for the people in Union, even non-broad casted limited basic channels will need to be Migrated, so you might want to start bitching again!!!

So I was switching through the channels yesterday just to see if comcast started the process of updating the HD channels and boom there it was all the local channels from 798 up to 813 are all set so far. BTW I live in Linden, NJ.

Just to let you know Central New Jersey 1 should have got there NEW HD yesterday and Union is not scheduled until Thursday November 5, 2009, Then New Jersey takes a break (Or a slow period)while the PA areas between Harrisburg and Philadelphia move on into there next individual phases, with Maryland taking over New Jersey spot towards the end of this month, with New Jersey picking back up at the beginning of December with New HD in Northwest NJ on Dec 3, 2009, but because of a unusually low number of analog removed and lots of analog still on there system the New HD for their system is greatly reduced!!!

Just a quick note on NW Jersey, we were already give many HD channels over a year ago when nowhere else in Jersey did. So 25 is low because we already have many of the channels that the rest of jersey is getting now, although we are not getting like 6 channels that the rest of jersey is getting now

Yes, I did read the thread title. But the link that lists all the new channels says "on OR ABOUT Nov. 5". I was just crossing my fingers that some additional channels would happen today.

Well my friends. I couldn't wait anymore for Comcast to update the channels. I checked last week to see if FIOS was available in Linden, NJ and prestor chango it was. So I made the switch and I am loving everything about it. The internet speed to the TV signal. Well its been a long ride with Comcast. Hope o see some of you over at the FIOS post soon.

Congrats on your switch to FiOS. I no longer have a need to switch since Comcast now carries all the HD that I could really want (save maybe a few channels) and the internet is fine here too. Just waiting for a few international networks and all will be amazing here in Comcastland.
Hopefully you're not a Knicks/Rangers/Devils/Islanders fan, otherwise you're SOL on getting them in HD.

Congrats on your new HD.
For me however, if Fios were available, and if Comcast had lots of HD (it currently doesn't in my area), I would still switch to Fios.
Why? To shove it in Comcast's face on how user interface matters. It's the face of the product, it's what customers interact with day in and day out... it's what leaves a long lasting impression regarding the brand.
I'm not the only one who thinks this way... Here's two sites out of many:

If Verizon is smoothly sailing towards an 'app store' environment for the TV, then I will choose Verizon. Twitter or Facebook from the TV? Great. Full color channel logo's to help me in a sea of 100's of channels? Great! Movie cover art to help titles stand out, awesome! Multi-Room DVR so I can finish watching a recording in the bedroom, even cooler.
So let's weigh the scales, and just for comparison's sake, both providers had the exact same lineup SD & HD, and DOCSIS 3.0 is rolled out so Internet packages are similar. Verizon still wins out in my book because of their updated user interface with widgets, home networking support and commitment to keep improving their platform.
If Comcast were to lay anyone off, it should be the people who design their archaic 1990's user interface. I think my 3.58 MHz Super Nintendo in 1992 had better graphics.

FIOS.. been there, done that, back to Comcast. Service great, billing a nightmare, customer service a close second. Bundled this month, unbundled next month, bundled again, unbundled again. After six months of calls for continued mistakes, wrong prices and mis-billings, enough was enough. Not worth the hassle for color icons. :)

anyone notice that there are two LMNHD channels. I know the one on channel 835 is supposed to be regular lifetime hd but on my box i have 2 LMNHD's.

I am in Belleville, on Comcast of Union and I still do not have these new channels. They did move the locals to the 800's but I still do not have all the new ones. Anyone else experiencing the same issues?

I live in Summit and just got the new HD channels this morning on one box. A different (newer) box still doesn't have it. Comcast told me channels should be rolled out by Tue. Good luck.

I had the same problem with my boxes in Summit too. I called Comcast and had them send a hit to all of my boxes, even the non-hd ones to play it safe, and now they list all the new channels. Everything is working properly. The channels were rolled out on Thursday.

Is it possible no additions to the HD lineup in Jersey City still? Aren't we part of the Union system?

No. Jersey City is its own system. If I'm not mistaken, the Jersey City headend is on Kennedy Blvd near St. Peters College.

Does anyone have any information on when the World of More will arrive in Jersey City? It seems strange (well, maybe not) that Comcast has bypassed our system after upgrading Union and Meadowlands. They now seem to be focused on Central and Southern NJ systems.
