[TWC] Question about RDC and FDC Power
Hi,
When I check my cable box I see RDC power-47 and FDC power-6.
Are these levels good or not? Also what is the range these levels should be within?
Thanks alot for the info on this :)

the rdc and fdc level on SA boxes are similar to docsis levels and ideal ranges.
fdc should be -10 to 0
rdc should be -50 to -35
or around that. rdc over -55 means the box is having a tough time transmitting back to headend which would result in vod problems.

Great info. 2 questions..
1) What is FDC then?
2) If you get screen freeze once in awhile which number would that be attributed to?
Thanks.

Re: [TWC] Question about RDC and FDC Power
forward data channel
Should work fine -16 to +16
Prefer -10 to +10
return data channel
Should work fine between +25 and +55
Prefer +27 to +53
Errors in either do not generate freezing.
Bad FDC would give you No data available error in the info bar.
Bad RDC would result in your box not able to do any 2way features, like on demand, startover and sdv if available in your area.
2) neither, you'd want to look at the QAM freq's level and SNR.
Ideal QAM levels are +10 to -10, and SNR +32 and/or above. They should work up to +15/-15, but not suggested.

How do you get the QAM frequency level and SNR?
I have the SA 8300HDC with Navigator box.
