[TWC] Trouble adding hard drive to Scientific Atlanta DVR
I am a Kansas City Missouri Time Warner subscriber and currently have a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HDC DVR. I believe the software it is running is called "Mystro". I purchased an Apricorn DVR Xpander 750GB external drive in hopes of expanding the storage using the SATA port. It worked for a while on a previous SA Explorer 8300HDC. But it wont work with my current model. I have tried hooking it up to my PC via the USB port and formatting the entire drive and then removing the partition. But when I hook it back up to the SA Explorer, it never recognizes the drive. Any ideas?

The HDC's have had broken eSATA for a while. It may come back but it might take a while. You can always use the contact us feature and complain to them. Make sure it gets sent to the Navigator engineering department or division.

Apricorn web site says the expander only works with 8300hd not the hdc even in passport

The legacy SA HD boxes have working eSATA but not the HDC's.

Great. Thanks for the info. I'll do some major complaining to Time Warner. Doubt if it will do any good, but it can't hurt. Thanks again.
