Only in a few select markets is CC doing Multiroom. Same with the TiVo software. The DVRs being used now have the capability, just not all markets are enabled.

I too am really wanting this feature sometime soon! I didn't know DirecTV was doing multiroom DVR, I know AT&T does it and seems to work pretty good. Dish Network does it too, but it's limited to one additional room and in Standard Definition.

Direct tv is working on real MRV and right now the pc play part is out and the box to box part is in beta testing.

Dish Network's DVR also allows you to hook up an external hardrive.

So do the SA DVRs.

What select markets are doing MR-DVR? What platform does it run on, Moto / SA ? What technology is it using, MoCA?

SA DVR's can do MR-DVR. They generate a QAM on RF Channel 137 and the 'client' boxes tune to it. Blue Ridge Cable has a MR-DVR channel in the upper 900's. You tune to it, the application loads on the Passport UI, and then you browse a list of your home's recordings.

Last time I checked, MR-DVR was not available. It's on the Product Road Map list, but right now only single-room (lol) dvrs are available.

I think you will see a Comcast multiroom DVR product sooner than that, maybe in some markets this year.

My DVR has the hardware to do it. It's a DCX-3400M. It's just a matter of software to utilize the feature.

That, and you really want to back-trap the drop, so you don't broadcast your recordings to the neighbors as well. Which isn't complicated, but it's not something the subscriber would be expected to do, so that means a truck roll.

Re: [DVR] When will Comcast offer multiroom DVRs

I was able to observe a demo of the Comcast multiroom DVR solution at the Sony Style Store in center city Philadelphia last week. It's live and working in the store which was pretty neat.

This is the store that is in the basement of the Comcast Center near Suburban Station. The reps did not provide any dates on availability but seemed pretty knowledgable about the product.

They are using a Motorola DCX 3400m (Main DVR) and a Motorola DCX 3200m (as the secondary playback device). The boxes were running A28 guide and it was a live cable feed.
