[AZ] Cox Ultimate - 50/5 - Connectivity Issues

I upgraded to Cox Ultimate and I am getting 50/5 for a sustained test (100mb). However, it appears I drop my connectivity frequently. I called Cox and they show my modem has been up for 7 days (about the last time I power cycled it), however aren't able to provide other information about my connection.

The only thing I notice is that this happens much more when I'm using an offsite backup utility such as Mozy or Jungle Disk. Initially I thought I was utilizing all upstream available and so was killing my connection, but I have since limited upstream bw usage in the application.

Any thoughts here? Any of the Cox engineers have suggestions?

Thanks

Please PM your modem MAC address to either myself or CoxTech1 and we'll take a look at it.

Do you have a 6120 with out of the box firmware? that could be it.

Re: [AZ] Cox Ultimate - 50/5 - Connectivity Issues

CoxTOC1 has checked my modem and firmware, plus signals etc. Reporting all looks ok. However, I have tried to remove all variables on my side possible:

1) Used multiple transfer methods, Jungle Disk, standard windows file sharing, and an http upload.
2) Used Linksys WRT310N as a router (wired, not wireless)
3) Used Time Capsule as a router (again wired)
4) Removed router and went direct connection to Cox modem
5) Used multiple systems, Windows 7 64bit and Windows XP 32bit (no IP filtering, firewall turned off in both cases)

Each time I am able to get the connection back, usually I do not have to reboot the modem itself, all lights remain normal. When directly connected I needed to reboot my pc (release/renew didn't work), and while through a router, I just need to reboot the router. In most cases I can wait it out too and it will recover.

Thanks again to CoxTOC1 for the help so far. I can replicate the problem when needed by initiating a large transfer of data (upload only, download is ok), however it may vary in the amount of data transferred before loss of connectivity.

Could still be a modem problem. So maybe you need to swap the modem out with cox or whoever you bought it from.

Bad Modem?

Can you swap it where you bought it?

I purchased this from Cox, I am going to head to one of their locations today to see if they will swap it out. Hopefully they will do this without having to send someone out.

The Phoenix Metro area has the 50MB option. I did have that option for that service in Carefree area (slightly west of).

I do would see if they can swap out the modem to see if that improves since you have pretty much eliminated everything else on your end.
