My Comcast HSI Sign-Up Experience

All in all it was very pleasant...

You end up talking to two different employees: one to collect your info and sign you up and another to register you for installation (or not).

I signed up for the $19.99/6 mo. promotion before it ended on the 10/31.

It comes with a $75 rebate, free cable modem rebate, free wireless router rebate and so the only thing I really needed to worry about was the installation charge which was about $50......I was all ready to try and 'haggle' my way out of the charge, but I didn't have to and she said "let me see if I can get you a discount." I ended up only having to pay $10 for the install charge. I asked about the self-install kit before and it was a ridiculous SH charge of $29.99 and then another charge for $9.99 so it's almost the same price as having the tech come out himself..luckily I don't have to worry about it. I also checked on e13ay and they have kits for only a couple bucks. It helps to be friendly to the person on the phone.

Best buy normally carries self install kits for Comcast (around here anyway) for $10. That would be 1 way of getting one... Although I still recommend a tech coming out to check on the lines/signals etc. Let us know how your service performs when its all said and done.

I got my HSI installed today. Installer came at about 9am and installation was pretty quick. He was a nice guy and actually gave me a little extra cable for my TV. I am using a SB5101 and CAT6 cable.

How do I check the speeds?

Server distance: 150 miles

How do these stats look?
