That's on my wireless connection. Supposed to be 10/1 service.

So have you tried it with a wired connection?

I've been looking for Powerboost but haven't seen any results that would suggest it has been released in Michigan.

If i were you i would go post your problem in the Charter Direct forum so they can fix it.

I'm thinking it's just the Power Boost. I'm on a 5Mb/s account and have been getting way more than that.

The files in these speed tests are so small, it only gauges power boost. When I do a large download, I get 5Mb/s, which it is what it should be.

I called charter on it, and they said just wait for hops 5-7 to become congested and then I should be back to my normal dial-up speeds.

How can Charter be so selective on turning on PB in certain areas?

Also you won't notice PB until you reset your modem. Pulled the power lately?

This is through a wireless bridge and then from a wireless router.

Speeds were really flaky last night. I wasn't even at 10mbps although I didn't play around with it much. Funny thing I haven't power cycled my modem in about a month and I speed test at least twice a week. Will keep you posted tonight when I have more time for test.

I'm getting better speeds than when I actually had 20meg service...

10/2 service... once it pegs out powerboost it goes back to 10mb down.

So far I can't complain about charter.

you guys say its just a quick burst in speed but it doesn't seem like a burst of speed to me because my download speed doesn't seem to drop. unless you guys don't think that is a big enough file(1.65gb)

I was downloading today at 1.54MB a second and I have 10/2 service.

All throughout the download (900meg download) the speed was the same.

Seems to work for me.

Have ran test several times and have gotten in 60 to 80 range. Have not done any large long term downloads to see what sustained speeds are.

I am in Minnesota BTW.

Not me. I'm supposed to, but for the last few days it's been stuck at this speed.

Funny thing is my upload speed is better than it ever has been!

The one server that works well is LasVegas! That's the only one though. lol

Weird because on extremely small files I only see the benefit where I live in WA, though I'm seeing 12-15mb down and 1mb up on a 5mb original line. I'll get maybe 1.9mb maxed speed for a few seconds on any file size, downloaded a few large game demos. Then it goes crashing down to 650kb which is what I got with my 5mb line, I don't like Powerboost because it doesn't really seem to shine where it counts at least on my connection.

I ran a test yesterday after increasing my speed to the 20/2 tier. I got about 17/2. No powerboost for me.

I'm on the 10/2. Tweaked some settings using TCPoptimizer and now it seems to have made the powerboost permanent throughout the downloads (on fast servers).

I just got the 20/2 and my speedtest starts out at 20mb then drops to around 14/15mb which is constant and my upload is stuck at 1mb. Weird thing is that I'm downloading from astraweb and my connection is maxing out around the same as when I still had 5mb around 650kb/s. Anyone have any ideas?

Seems that my powerboost has died.. i was getting 20/2 for a week or two, now it's back down to 10/2 ..
