I don't post very often but was wondering what the kind people in here think i snagged this from my local tftp for my modem and this would explain my download speeds that never seem to get above what the config says my s/n etc. are all perfect but comcast tells me i pay for 12/2 package when i call tech support i sit for hours no lie hours! thank god for speakerphone and no one ever answers
hoping a tech in here could shoot me back a response thanks in advance. Jon

From what I see, your area hasn't been upgraded to the true 12/2 yet or your max rates would read as:
12000 kbps / 2000 kbps
Downstream: 13200 kbps
Upstream: 2200 kbps
That, or you haven't gotten the updated config file to get 12/2. The CSR you've been talking to could just be confused with the avertised speed that says 12/2 with Powerboost when the actual speeds are what you're showing.

Forgot to mention my area has been upgraded to 3.0 at least they try to offer me to 50 package all the time i live in westfield ma headend is less than 2mi from my condo

What kind of cable modem do you have?
I know that Terayons and some older modems have issues getting 12/2.

I did not "make" it,takes a little bit of dective work to find your config file if i explained it, i would run out space in here i would start with »www.tcniso.net/ it is down as of right now doesnt happen often then find dhcp force a little tricky if you dont know where to look fyi every virus scanner says its a trogen it's not from there you should be able piece it together also it helps to have neighbors who also have comcast service to scan from to if you have any ?'s shoot me back i am always curious to see other peoples configs from around the country Jon

Im having the same issue my area supposedly has been upgraded and have been told to reboot the modem in email and my bill now states that I get 12mbit down but im still only getting 4mbit down. do you own your modem or is it a rental? my modem is less then a year old so I dont think my modem is the problem.

I own my modem and is about about 1 year old but the config speaks for itself i will post some screen grabs later tonight with my download speeds that match the file's speeds dead nuts and before someone asks i test 2 of my desktops and my notebook with 512mb-1gb test files at the same time and by themselves and get the exact same speeds doesn't matter what time of the day or night Jon

That is when this friggin problem starting happening see screen grab after that they just send me a cable reset when i call and tell them i am looking at my config right now they all of sudden think i am talking a different Lang before this new config my speeds were perfect (close Enough) to not have me notice.

same thing here when I call asking for the config file to be pushed they then try to push me off on renting a modem. is comcast trying to get people to rent the modems and thus denying them the tier upgrade?

I download all day and night at these speeds doesn't matter the size or server.

So you're downloading 3 files at once with a total of roughly 1450KB per sec that's about right for a 12mb line.

Nope whether i download 1 file 5 etc they all shoot up to 700-800 KB for like 3 sec then they drop like clockwork to 550-600kb and stay. Before the config update i could pull 1.5mbs to 2.0mbs on any size file or amount i wish i grabbed some shots before to show. I don't have power boost or blast so i know its not that gimmick. I accept network overhead but come on now.

ok im on my 5th time calling comcast. first three times I was told I need to rent a cable modem the 4th time the lady told me that she added me to the 12mbps service and that i needed to reboot my modem and call back if i had problems and now the fifth time the guy tells me that i need a tech to come out to check the line.... all i want is for them to tftp me the config file.
when I called the first time the girl said my signal strength on the line was excellent... why does this seem to only be effecting people with bought modems.

The Powerboost feature is not something that is subscribed to, it should just be there, and why is the Blast speedtier a "gimmick" ??

because more often then not people with comcast modems, have had techs come out to install them, and get dispatch to push the right file...

DiFileCPE is used by guys who hack modems to get free internet service. They always have issues finding the proper config files.

I don't steal service if that is what you are assuming i pay for my service with cable, internet and no phone i pay $211.00 month i like to know exactly what i am paying for and when i feel i am not hence i go finding out the problem by any means i have to confirm what comcast tells me

I would suggest posting in the direct forum as well, there could be an issue with the way your account was setup. If the wrong type of modem is tied to your account you might be getting the wrong config file.
The CMTS in your area look to be configured correctly for 12/2.

Direct forums sounds like a good idea thank you CS is useless on the phone well if you could tell me how to get your config file the easy way please post me a link on a easier method, just because its a "hacker" site doesn't mean you have to use the information for illegal purposes i bought the book at my local barns and noble and that actually got me to the site i read alot in my free time and since i like tech seemed a good match to me again thank you to the courteous people in here.

Who cares if the URL that was posted is to a modem hack, as a customer of comcast I have every right to check if I am getting what I am paying for. Just for the record I have NEVER gotten anywhere near 12/2 the most I have ever upload was 228kps only for a very short while. ONLY from MS servers do I ever get OVER 1 meg down, how often do I download from MS, once a month.
