Thank you, Nick!
And just to reiterate part of what Nick has already posted:
"Opera 10.01 is a recommended security and stability upgrade. Opera highly recommends all users to upgrade to Opera 10.01 to take advantage of these improvements".
On another note...the internal updater sure has come a long way with Opera since the "old days".
Updated flawlessly within the browser without the need to do what was once essentially downloading the entire program and installing it over the top, so to speak.
Thanks again for the heads up, Nick. :)

Re: [Free] Opera 10.01 Final
Thanks, Nick.
Got it, though not without some minor ripples on my Win98FE system. In checking for updates via Help > Check for Updates, I got Opera's own update panel which offered direct update from 10.00 to 10.01. Activating this led to an "internal error" at the very end of the auto-download... the error box suggested doing a manual download and install. That download went smooth, but part way through the 'upgrade' installation, a message box came up wanting a "feature" to be loaded from the "Opera 9.60 disk", along with the notation "1" in the accompanying file-name box. I exercised "cancel" on this and the install proceeded as normal until it attempted to auto-activate Opera... at which point another error box appeared noting that there was a missing Unicode layer. (Not surprising, since Win98FE lacks native Unicode support.) Upon again clicking "close" or "cancel" (not sure... it all happened pretty fast), the installation briefly continued for a second or two and ended without the usual auto-opening of the just-installed Opera. I then manually opened Opera from the icon and immediately got another message about a missing Unicode layer, once more clicked "cancel", and Opera opened normally. Since then, reopening Opera has not repeated the Unicode message, which perhaps is because it finally zeroed out Unicode capability somewhere (in opera6.ini, maybe?).
In any case, it seems like there's an oversight in Opera's updater that either fails to fully recognize Win98FE or fails to properly account/customize for its lack of Unicode support. However, the error boxes and installation process seem "forgiving", and the installation finally gets accomplished. So you other users still running Win98FE (both of you, somewhere out there in the big, wide world), be advised that you might run into some bumps during upgrade, but they are surmountable.
At the end of all this, thus far Opera 10.01 now seems to be working just fine on the computer.

Ohhhh okay.
To me, most people don't really refer to Windows 98 as FE. I see it more as Windows 98 Gold Edition... then Windows 98SE "Second Edition". Good to know. :)
