I just started using SABnzbd+
Not bad, I make sure I use it during Bell's throttling time :)

UPDATE:
Received an email from Usenet Server.
It will not be happening today.
It's going to take several weeks.
Our sales contact told me that their OPS department is backed up but our request has been queued.
They will get back to me with a time line.

I'll PM the client I use
Why not just post it?
Cause I didn't want to come off as an SABnzbd troll... I figured everyone else here had their clients and that it wasn't really contributing to the discussion.
I use SABnzdb+ on Mac, Win and Linux...
I just signed up for Astraweb and been using SABnzdb+ for half the day now. One word: awesome
Newsgroups has never been better or faster. Thanks EQ for mentioning it in forums. I was hooked once I heard it used a WebUI and it automated the newsgroup process.

Even with a jovial message like that, your avatar makes it seem like you're disappointed.
I think HiVolt needs a hug... I know I sure do :( :p

LOL, with the Leafs playing the way they are, we Leaf fans need more in the way of a miracle rather than a hug. ;)

I love it, and most people I recommended it to love it. One caveat, if you're a linux nerd, and you mess around with your python libraries, you may want to make sure the version of SAB you're using is compatible with the version of python you're using.
I messed around with it once, and it took me a day of tinkering to figure it out. It still worked (as in the processes d/l, unrar all of that) but the UI was totally unresponsive.
So careful with that one.

If you were a Toronto Maple Leafs fan maybe you'd understand. I mean. Their record this season is an astonishing 1-7-4.
Do you know how impressive that is? They won a game.

site.despair.com/images/dpage/stupidity.jpg You know that if the Leafs were a farm animal, you would see the farmer and them headed out behind the barn with a shovel.

Re: Usenet Services- Clarification
Sometimes I am able to fetch really old stuff no problem anyway from the current service, even though it doesn't "officially" have a very long retention period.
Right now I'm pulling something that is 280 days old from alt.binaries.multimedia. I'm also getting 2mbit, not the 1mbit I'm supposed to get.
It always seems to be a bit of a crap-shoot for both speed and retention, but for me, it has always tended to be longer retention than I expected to get.

Best clients:
Newsleecher if your willing to pay for supersearch. No need for Nzbs... Great program, auto unrars, queues par2's for incompletes, deletes rars / ect.
Newsbin - More expensive version than newsleechers supersearch... but more reliable. 64 bit client also, if your REALLY into newsgroups/dont mind paying... this is the one to get.
Nzbplayer... downloads a nzb, and "streams"(Opens it up in VLC and plays it), as it downloads...so long as your nets fast enough. (IE... You wont be able to queue a bluray and watch it :P)

Awesome, I have my fingers crossed for a speed increase in the next couple of months, but 200 days is sweet in itself.

A nice reader: Grab IT. Free, has SSL and Par functionality.
Unfortunately, with Astraweb.com, I can't use SSL (they note this on their support section). So, I opted for Newsleecher.
Was this a function of the usenet provider or the software? I have astraweb and may use ssl.

It's the software, I have SSL enabled on SABnzbd+ works like a charm

It's really solid... the first time I loaded it up, I figured it would be a pain in the ass to set up but worth the effort, turns out it was dead easy.
So yeah I'm quite pleased with it, even after about 8 months of using it.
