[IA] More HD channels
When are we going to see more HD channels on Mediacom? Particularly MSNBC HD, MTV HD, VH1 HD, Comedy Central HD, Bravo HD (not available yet in DM/Ames), CNBC HD, National Geographic HD (not likely but I'd love it), Science Channel HD (again, not likely but I'd love it). Also, why don't we have Cinemax HD?
Mediacom is way behind nearly every other provider in the country in regards to HD channels. Really hope they can step it up!

Hopefully they add interesting HD first before they add those channels. I know, everyone has a different view on this. I would never tune to those channels you listed though.
I wouldn't mind the Science channel in HD though. Don't need news and music in HD.

Give me Versus, Travel, and TrueTV and I would be happy. Oh and the kids want nick and disney :P. I agree crucify, only NatGeo of the OP, does anything for me. MTV, lol, I haven't watched that channel since they only played videos, but maybe I am just old. Again to each their own, variety is best, and we have 3 news channels already in HD.

I don't personally watch MTV either, but they do show their awards shows in HD, and I think there is a market for their crap reality shows (same with VH1).
Yes, I forgot about Travel HD. That would be a great one to have.
I don't care about sports, but sure, I think a lot of people would like to see Versus.
What would TruTV air that's actually in HD? I thought that channel just showed extreme police videos?

I just got TruTV today here in comcastland and it just seems like sd programming stretched to fill the screen. Looks pretty bad. I think i saw some new stuff with sidebars earlier. (No guide info yet). Mtv doesn't play any music in HD. Some reality shows are. Music/Movie awards are in hd. I don't watch vh1 much but everytime i put it on, it's not in HD. Science channel HD isn't too bad. National Geographic HD is pretty sweet though. Cnbc HD is pretty much sd video with the stock graphics around the video. Video quality is very good and i prefer it over fox business hd. (I don't like the graphics on it). Comedy Central is mostly sd. The stuff i watch isn't in HD. (Daily show, futurama, and occasionally colbert.) I was able to catch a newer episode of futurama in HD. That was sweet! I have like 90+ HD channels here but most of them are just HD feeds of SD programming. Hopefully that will change. (And i hate how cartoon network just stretches everything. I can't tell if king of the hill is hd during adult swim. Looks very sharp. Still, video quality is nice on that channel. Scooby Doo displayed in hd looks much better than the sd feed or on demand.)

I know this has been brought up before but, part of me wants to see Comcast come to Des Moines yet part of me doesn't.
With all the install horror stories etc.
for me, I want to see all the analogues dropped and D3 deployed.

Well, there is always the possibility that mediacom goes under and comcast gets it. It would be possible now that they got the ownership cap removed. I hear a lot of bad things about comcast, but i could be stuck with time warner. At least comcast has more hd, and docsis 3. Cant say the same thing about time warner. Mediacom will get better. my friend in abingdon said he got a message on his digital box about new hd. will get better.

In Brookings SD we were suppose to get 4 more HD channels by the 27th of this month. Nothing yet but the channels that are coming are Cartoon Network HD, AMC HD, MSNBC HD and Travel HD. I have BRAVO HD and CNBC HD.

More HD, NFL Network and MLB Network. I'd probably dump the dish in a heartbeat if Comcast ever took over Mediacom.

I will give Mediacom this much credit, they have made the effort of upgrading their HD lineup. Only a few years ago, all the HD Mediacom offered was ESPN, ESPN2, TNT, HDNet, and the locals in HD. While I agree the HD offering today is still way behind the big boys (even MidCon Comm. in Sioux Falls has way more HD than Mediacom), it's better than a few years ago.

Totally agree. I held off getting CableCARDS on my TiVo for that very reason. Here they may a big push adding HDs around July/August '08, and that's when I added 'em.

Wow, you're lucky that you're getting those channels! Just to confirm, you're actually getting MSNBC HD? I would be _so_ happy if Mediacom gave us that in Des Moines/Ames.
