[HSI] Connection Keeps dropping too..

(posted in the Charter Direct forum also...)

Several times a night my connection keeps dropping. I'll be going along fine, then whether I'm in a game, or talking to people or just surfing I see I have no response. Looking at the cable modem I'll see the ready light go out, then start flashing. I usually have to unplug and plug it back in and hope it reconnects. I'm including the logs and signal levels, which according to specs I've seen are well with limits. It is an Ambit modem. It coincidently seems to have started after Charter started their "Powerboost" thing...

The other thing I notice, I have 10/2 service, but (if I'm reading it right) my downstream symbol rate seems to indicate 5mb? I do speed test to 10 (or 25ish with "powerboost"), so I'm not sure if it is a problem. I had bought the Ambit from Charter (it's still under service contract though), but am wondering if I should dump it and go pick up something else...

I have basically the same problem, and now that I've been reading, we're certainly not alone.

Post in the Direct forum, and they'll probably send someone out. However, in my case, I know it's not my internal wiring, so it's something in the yard, or between there and the plant.

No Ranging T3 timeouts - suspect cable plant noise problems - probably Upstream SNR.

If the noise is bad enough it will cause your model to lose connection.
In fact if you get 15 T3 timeouts in a row within the T3 timer period limit the modem automatically reboots and trying to reestablish the connection (in hopes of getting a better connection - which of course it won't be cause of the noise).

Mine is doing the same thing in Haltom City, Texas. Its so bad here right now Im lucky if I can stay connected for 5 minutes. I got a new modem tried a direct link without a splitter and nothing changed.

I have a post into the Charter Direct and they're asking for details - modem MAC and etc. so they can look into it. I'll post it later and hope they can do something.

I'm in the same boat in Weatherford.

I had this same problem last month.
Every 2-4 hours. Cable Modem and Telephone Modem both drop and reset.
5-30 minutes later it's back.....for 5-10 minutes.

Is plastered all over my modem logs.
