Comcast Digital Voice- new in house.. static on line

Hello. I just got Comcast digital voice in my house. I have 2 lines. Regular line and fax line. I noticed today that I am getting heavy static on the regular line.. I called Comcast and they said they would send a tech.. What can be causing this? It was working great for about 3 days and then today heavy static. They said that it may be an install problem.. Any one have similar experience? By the way , they told me the levels were not bad

Have you eliminated the possibility of a house wiring problem by directly connecting to the emta?

static on the line is phone wiring....your coax will not cause this issue....

loose line, bad jack, still connect at the demarc to your old carrier....

Static is caused by faulty phone wiring or bad user equipment. In rare cases, a bad port on the eMTA can cause it too. I would wager that your static would go away if you plugged directly into the eMTA.

Your tech should be able to troubleshoot this and resolve it.

The problem with the static was the line.. The cable line from outside the house was running through the gutter, they replaced the line because there was a small slice in it, they said water could cause the static, no more static.. By the way,My fax phone was plugged right into the emta and that produced no static (that was when I had the static prior to the new line)

not what you said originally.....and static IS caused by phone wiring....your modem receives a digital RF signal....static is an analog interference....

ex- snow on analog, tiling on digital.....you do not, can not, will not see snow on a digital signal....

Not 100% true bud. You can see snow on digital and you can see tiling on analog cable. If the source has issues, at I've seen it many times, you can get the problems to show up at either end. However, these days it's rare, it still happens.. it usually winds up being a head end issue.. more so, however, on tiling on analogs since you can tile the digital signal at the head end which is sent down an analog line.

Just saying.. it CAN happen, though it's rate.. but I agree with you on CDV.. any static is house wiring, but SOMETIMES a bad port on the emta itself.
