I really see no reason to use a third party defrag program. Whatever performance boost you see by using it is just in your head.

Well, lets say that you, and I, and Howie were in a crowded room of people. We three wanted to have a group conversation, but there are all these other people in between us three. We are all swaying back and forth trying to peek around other people to see each other, and we have to yell to be heard.

All of a sudden, someone hits a switch and these big robot arms come out of the ceiling grabbing people and rearranging where they stand. Afterward, you and I and Howie are all standing together with our bright green shirts on, and can have a normal conversation without interruption. :)
And I'm the poor Star Trek ensign in "RED" who gets killed by the alien robotic hand & removed from the party! ;)
