[Equipment] PAP2T incorrect time
My PAP2T has been an hour off for several days. I suspect that it thinks daylight savings time has ended already.
This is what I have for the daylight savings time rule:
start=3/8/7/2:00;end=11/1/7/2:00;save=1
Also, my NTP server is time.nist.gov.
I thought this was right, but maybe not? What could be the problem?

Re: [Equipment] PAP2T incorrect time
That's the same rule I use and I have the correct time. Try using another time server like 0.us.pool.ntp.org
Edit: Make sure you have the correct timezone selected also.

Re: [Equipment] PAP2T incorrect time
Have you tried to reboot the PAP2? This also happens to me sometimes -- time is correct but the DST rule isn't applied, a reboot would "fix" it.

Re: [Equipment] PAP2T incorrect time
I tried rebooting, unfortunately, this did not help.
I choose different time servers, but this didn't help either. I tried manually inputting the time, but this is no good either.
The only thing that resolved the issue is changing the time zone to GMT -07:00 . However, this is NOT my correct time zone. My correct time zone is Mountain and should be GMT -06:00. This is what I have had it set to and this setting has worked correctly until recently!

For DST rule to work, time zone should be set to standard time. In your case, it should be Mountain time zone GMT -7:00.
My PAP2 has the same rule but time zone GMT -5:00 because I am in Eastern time zone. The time is correct.

I know this was already said, but:
USA Eastern: GMT -5
USA Central: GMT -6
USA Mountain: GMT -7
USA Pacific: GMT -8
I'm sorry, but I had a good laugh out of this.
You seem to have forgotten the existence of the Central time zone, which gave us John Belushi as well as Da Bears....

"The modern Greenwich Meridian, based at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, was established by Sir George Airy in 1851. By 1884, over two-thirds of all ships and tonnage used it as the reference meridian on their maps. In October of that year, at the behest of U.S. President Chester A. Arthur, 41 delegates from 25 nations met in Washington, D.C., USA, for the International Meridian Conference. This conference selected the Greenwich Meridian as the official Prime Meridian due to its popularity. However, France abstained from the vote and French maps continued to use the Paris Meridian for several decades."
(The Paris Meridian is the "Rose Line" referred to in "The Da Vinci Code").
Many other cities also vied for the honor of having the Prime Meridian.

One of the benefits of Greenwich is that 180 degrees east or west of Greenwich is mostly the Pacific Ocean (not land) so it was a convenient place for the International Date Line.
Obviously adjustments had to me made for Siberia and for various islands.
The late Arthur C Clarke wrote a light short, "Trouble with Time", set on Mars, where, since there is no ocean in which to put the International Date Line, one can step from one day to another on dry land - with amusing results when not knowing that it's Sunday has results fatal to a projected crime.

Mazilo, please note, the "International Date Line" is NOT a place you can call to find a new girlfriend! :)

OK, so maybe I am a little comfused. When I go to »www.time.gov and click on the Mountain time zone, it shows my time as UTC -6 hours Daylight Savings Time.
However, when we go back to standard time, the Mountain time zone will be UTC -7 hours? Is that right?
And for the daylight savings time rule to work correctly in the PAP2T, the time needs to be in standard time?

Re: [Equipment] PAP2T incorrect time
Yes on all counts. The purpose of the rule is to ADJUST for DST automatically. So keep your time zone as USA Mountain: GMT -7, all year round.
By the way, in the United Kingdom, Daylight Savings Time ended LAST Sunday (October 25).
I bet that's when your issue started?

I don't know the exact day, but it is possible that the problem started on the 25th.

Are you sure the string is correct ? Yours is
start=3/8/7/2:00;end=11/1/7/2:00;save=1
Mine (which appears to still work correctly) is
start=3/8/7/2:0:0;end=11/1/7/2:0:0;save=1

I tried your string and it did not make any difference.
Also, oddly enough, my PAP2T switched back to -6:00 on its own....
I changed it back to -7:00. I'll see if it stays this time.

Is your PAP2 set to provision its own settings from a VoIP provider ?

Re: [Equipment] PAP2T incorrect time
I have "start=3/2/7;end=11/1/7;save=1" so I guess I am off 1 hour until 2:00 am.
BTW my time is correct. Does this mean my March start is wrong. I thought it worked right last spring.
BTW2: Toro is in Canada I think. For some reason Bush figured we needed to adjust DST differently than everybody else. So the rules are different.

Nah, we copied your DST change to save the headache of doing business with you guys who would have a different time for two weeks of the year.

Read that; a long time ago.
There are any number of places where you can straddle the date line on Terra. I've done so in Taveuni, Fiji. Took the obligatory picture of one foot on either side of the rather small official marker...

Re: [Equipment] PAP2T incorrect time
I had this problem.
If I remember correctly, it was associated with my router's time being off by an hour.
Anyway...
These are my settings and they work fine:
start=3/8/7/2:0:0;end=11/1/7/2:0:0;save=1
GMT-08:00
Primary NTP Server: time.nist.gov
Secondary NTP Server: time-a.nist.gov

Re: [Equipment] PAP2T incorrect time
I see different DST rules. I would have to read the Sipura Administration guide.
Here is mine and it works fine; start=3/8/7;end=11/1/7;save=1

Re: [Equipment] PAP2T incorrect time
That simpler rule
start=3/8/7;end=11/1/7;save=1
would kick in as soon as Sunday began, that is, midnight.
-------------------------------------------
The more complete rule
start=3/8/7/2;end=11/1/7/2;save=1
would kick in Sunday at 2:00 AM which technically is the rule.

After changing it to GMT -7:00, it now seems to work just fine. It also correctly switched over to standard time this morning.
Thanks for everybody's help
