[AZ] Cox dropping for 12+ hours 2 days in a row

Greetings all,

i have noticed that Cox has dropped off at least two nights in a row starting at exactly 8:20pm for me. It has not been back on for at least 12 hours afterward. i called, and they said no outages in my area, and that nothing could be done aside from having a technician come out.

here are the issues i have, 1. my cable tv has been fine throughout, 2. the connection drops at exactly the same time both nights, 3. it comes back up and works during the day for my wife so i assume the hardware is fine, 4. if a tech comes out and the internet is functioning i don't see how that will help, 5. i have been without service for 2 days during the times i would actually be able to use the internet...

i am currently at work so don't have any of the technical details.

at 8:20 each night i lose my ip address and end up with an internal ip rather than the one from cox. i have one of the routers from cox and it has worked fine, nothing has changed in the set up, all of it is tucked into my wall behind a metal plate so there is little chance of hardware issues (especially since it comes back up and works fine during the day)

if anyone has any ideas or has been experiencing the same i would like to know.

thanks

so when you call tech support when this happens do they see the modem online or offline and does rebooting the modem and router correct this, the have the ability to see if the modem is actually down.if it is not then it could be an issue with the router loosing sync with the modem

Thermal issues? I happen to live in AZ and what caught my eye was the fact that you said the modem was tucked in a wall. Since I know it has been colder then normal the last few days, is it possible you turned on the heat and that is somehow causing thermal issues with the modem/router? I had a netgear router that would just quit if it got too hot, replaced it and the issue went away. Just a stab in the dark.

rebooting modem/router does not help. i have also gone through and released and renewed the IP through the router. I have also bypassed the router completely which does not help. i am fairly certain this is not a hardware issue... fairly.

shouldnt be a heat issue, we keep the house cold, our electronics like it that way =)

yes i call them, and i don't know if they see the modem, they have me go through the steps to reset it and say there is nothing they can do. i have a technician headed out to me today. i was mostly looking to see if this was specific to me or if anyone else was having similar issues.
