Let's watch a movie on The Weather Channel!

I know this isn't a Comcast thing, but did anyone else notice that The Weather Channel is showing "The Perfect Storm" tonight back to back. It's in HD if you have TWC in HD. Isn't it called The Weather Channel for reason? LOL
What is everyone else's take on this?
Accorinding to the guide, March of the Penguins is on next Friday night, no joke!
I'm afraid to ask what will be on the week after that!
I guess this is what happens since NBC bought The Weather Channel.

they've done documentaries (original productions) before. With NBC's movie library, it's not surprising that the show weather-related movies. Probably cheaper than paying people to be on air for those 2 hours.

Like when MTV went from playing music to reality TV bullshit.

And when TechTV turned to G4 they took all the cool technology / computer related stuff off and ruined that.

The landscape is really changing out there. Pretty much everything as we once knew it will be no longer.

that stinks. They need to bring back weather plus or something that shows ONLY WEATHER. I don't want another cmt,mtv,etc. I WANT AN ALL WEATHER CHANNEL NOT THE WEATHER MOVIE CHANNEL!!!I plan on writing to the ceo of nbc and the president of the weather channel announcing my displeasure at this move.

Jack, it's way worse than that. One of the upcoming movies is "Misery." Chuck Ross of TVWeek rips them a new one for that.

But to bring it back on topic, maybe we can petition Comcast to replace The Weather And Other Stuff Channel with Weatherscan for all subscribers.

I agree with you totally. I also have a channel on my Comcast digital lineup called "Weather Scan", which is run by the Weather Channel. It keeps the local animated radar on constantly and gives all the weather all the time. Since the Weather Channel went the way of a "movie channel", I rarely ever turn to it.

Weatherscan shows the wrong area and TWC is worthless when they run Storm Stories and now movies. Just two more channels to skip through, maybe they should have shopping on TWC too.

Thankfully my old weather radio still works. The NWS doesn't do top forty or hockey games yet. :)

They should run weather scan / longer LOT8 over night on the main channel and not show repeats of that days forecast.

I still hope that they are able to brake in / still live reports of BIG weather events.

It was in HD. I just got that channel the other day. Picture quality of the movie in hd was pretty good but not as good as hbo or starz. Still, the rest of TWC in HD is decent. Can't wait for the local forecast in HD.

What a stupid movie The Perfect Storm was. A crew would rather catch fish and die than get back home safely? And they're heroes for their stupidity?! Well, it was just that part that was stupid. I liked the other storylines.

I don't even watch the Weather channel anymore. Comcast in my area doesn't have Weatherscan I guess.

Well lets NOT forget that stupid "Wake Up With Al" crap they now have on in the AM, along with the business updates from CNBC. Uh HELLO - if I wanted to watch CNBC, I would TURN ON CNBC. :mad:
I really liked the duo Abrams & Bettes - they just seemed like a perfect match, & NBC had to ruin that, too.

the weather channel will see their viewership decline after all of these switches. I think they should put abrams & bettes on before they do cantore and steele. Let "big al" do the weather from 5 am to 7am then from 10 am to 3 pm.

I feel bad for the people who are staying in hotels which only carry The Weather Channel and they just want to see the current conditions and local forecast in a few minutes. It must suck for them! At least I can put on channel 101 Weatherscan Local and check it all out in a just a few minutes at my house.

I seriously doubt they care about viewers when the only time it's watched is to briefly get a weather update. It's not like people sit down to watch TV & think, "Hmm let's see what's on the Weather Channel." In actuality, I bet viewers increase...

i did notice they are playing actual music now on the local on the 8s. Now if they could get rid of those stupid voiceovers.

I am actually one of those people who watch the weather channel ALOT and i turn it off when they are showing movies. Their LOYAL viewers will turn it off.

TWC has been worthless since their founder left and they became The Global Warming Channel. The bad science they have followed leads to forecasting that is wrong more than right and everything is sensationalized. I wish they would get dropped for a channel that is worthwhile.

I used to watch TWC a lot...then about 5 years ago the station tanked. They started all sorts of BS coverage and I stopped watching all together.

They actually have a channel that does ONLY weather (it doesn't even do ads).

It's called WeatherScan (Comcast put it in Digital Starter).

i think the nbc owned/operated have what they call NBC PLUS. But all it shows are forecasts and radar no local meteorologists. So basically they should call it weatherscan local and rename weatherscan local to weatherscan cable.

All it takes is a hurricane, tornado, or a cloudburst somewhere...and the movie should get interrupted for an alert.

The force of nature would most likely outweigh a rerun of an edited-down flick.

I tried to watch Perfect Storm the other day on TWC. The guide info said it was supposed to be there. When I tuned it in, it was the weather like real weather not that storms weather. darn.

NBC PLUS is not weather all the time (some areas do have some news on it part time) and not used for that in all areas.

You're a little too upset over a boring channel no one watches. If you want weather THAT bad, do like everyone else in 2009 and look online. And if a storm cut off your power, too late...the storm is there lol. Also, buy a old weather radio.
