Your modem is online and the signal is within acceptable limits. Forward is a little hot, but you are still ok. I would keep looking at your computer or try a second one if you have one.

Re: Intermittant connection

I used malwarebytes, spybot and adaware along with my Norton AV to clear an infection of some sort. I don't know what else on my computer could cause this to happen suddenly. It worked fine for months then one day it starts going in and out constantly.

And i am not surprised that the internet is good when it works for the 10 to 90 seconds when it comes on before it goes back to being off for 10 to 90 seconds (numbers are estimates haven't timed it yet)

I don't know what else I can do to check whether it is my PC that is the problem.

The Killer NIC NDIS EDGE Interface shows as connected.

I agree with the advise above
a} ask the Security forum people to walk you through a careful, complete malware scan.
b} kill off and rebuild ALL your network connections. (uninstall and allow rediscovery, reinstall the most current drivers)

While the security cleanup angle is certainly advisable and the troubleshooting is best done in the topic started in the Security Cleanup Forum, I am going to leave this thread open to allow other troubleshooting ideas should they occur to anyone.

Maybe I missed something, but I know signals can fluctuate. sychotic, is there a possibility this may be happening? Have you tried a different NIC?

Re: Intermittant connection - Lompoc, CA

I have 2 nic's on my computer. One is the killer nic that you see on the ipconfig, the other is a nvidia nforce nic which is causing the problem I think. I did some research and it seems slot of people have problems. With nvidia nforce nics and vista/win7. I found some other forums that had a few threads on the issue and some stated that downloading the 15.25 vista 64 bit version of the driver would fix the problem and other said try brand new drivers for win7. I tried both of those fixes and they didn't work right away. I installed and uninstalled these drivers and let windows use it's own drivers and disabled the nic and and the nvidia service pretty much randomly with a handfull of reboots thrown in and got it working. But I think that if I restart again it will go back to not working again like it did the last time. I want try to figure out why it's working before I lose the settings.

Re: Intermittant connection - Lompoc, CA

Open the properties for THAT NIC, carefully record ALL the settings (clear screenshots COULD work..if you can print and read them)
do the same for the "killer"
BTW both nVidia and Killer are ok (but overhyped products) and some models are weak/slow on driver support, you may be better off (temporarily anyway) with the MS apporove (but generic performance) driver.

Re: Intermittant connection - Lompoc, CA

I built four new identical computers once and they gave me fits with intermittent disconnects. I worked on troubleshooting those for nearly a month, futzing with settings, drivers, cables, etc. and trying to refrain from pulling out hair. It was so frustrating. Finally swapped the NIC in one and no more issues.

As it turns out, my Linksys network equipment did not like the ASUS version of a very popular (at the time) 3com NIC. Somebody else could use those NICs with their Netgear switches/router, but they were a nightmare for me. I guess that's why NIC came to mind for me.
