VOXOX with ATA
I am surprised that the ATA worked with them. X-Lite had no sound either way.
A different post on DSL Reports showed their Codec to be G723, and X-lite did not have that Codec.
With the parameters of User ID: 1xxxxxxxxxx (Voxox number including the 1), and the password that turns on the application, and of course setting the preferred codec to G723, it worked.
To keep the ATA working, I sign into the application as invisible. I only sign in to change the outgoing CID for fun.
This is the only application (that I know of) without a monthly fee, and only One cent per minute* that lets you SPOOF your caller ID at will, even to a number that you don't have.
*If you pay $2.45 per month, minutes are virtually unlimited.
I have paid for lines (Magic Jack and Future Nine, and of course my DSL) but I like to occasionally play around with "free" services.
Their website indicates that you can have as many free numbers as yow want in your account (probably California numbers) but I haven't been able to find the application to add additional incoming numbers. If someone else knows how to get additional numbers within the same account, please post it.
I will test the voice quality with my friends. If it is decent, I will pay $2.45 monthly for unlimited minutes.
Sure beats paying $100.00 up front for TK6000 or $230.00 up front for Ooma

Do incoming calls work for you?

Re: VOXOX with ATA
As long as the Voxox application is not running (or in invisible mode) my ATA works. I did change the registration interval and proxy interval from 3600 to 300. If I understand the settings, it should re-register every 5 minutes instead of every hour.
The ATA I am using is a Linksys SPA 2102.
A similar problem happens with other VOIP providers if 2 SIP units (or programs) are trying to access the same address. It seems that the one most currently registered will get the call. I do not know the interval of the Voxox application registration interval.
Another thing that allowed incoming to work with the "Personal Assistant" is to have no other numbers in the Follow Me box. Somehow, if I had other numbers there, and the call was forwarded from a Google Voice number, the caller would hear one ring then silence. However, "follow me" seemed to work from GV without the Personal Assistant.
Although the site claims that ALL incoming communications are free, incoming minutes seem to be deducted from the balance with pay as you go.

Interesting. I never set any follow me numbers. When using voxox application, incoming did not work.
Right now I have it registered on pbxes.org. Outgoing works but not incoming.

Re: VOXOX with ATA
My magic incantation for making incoming VOXOX calls work with my trusty PAP2V1 is to disable all VOXOX options--Personal Assistant, Call Screening, and Present Incoming Call Options. Otherwise, my incoming calls get shuffled off to VOXOX voicemail. Also, I've never gotten their voicemail email notification to work.
Let me add that I've had heartburn with VOXOX ever since they removed their Internet WWW phone management interface, replacing it with a PeeCee program. 'PeeCees? We ain't got no PeeCees. We don't need no PeeCees! I don't have to show you any stinkin' PeeCees!'
And, while I'm not licensed to prescribe for heartburn (as is n9md), my successful home remedy has been to reduce my daily VOXOX intake, replacing it with SipGate-ness... :-)

Zombie,
I don't know your settings, and yours may already match the ones listed above.
Double check the proxy (not the outgoing proxy since you can call out). reboot the ATA after quitting the Voxox application. Turning off the assistant (before quitting application LOL) would not hurt, unless you wanted faxes on that number.
I agree that out VOIP boxes are little more than toys, even when they work properly. But that is why we "play" with the companies, instead of purchasing "full service" retail price lines.
I currently play with Magic jack, Voxox, Google Voice, Future Nine, and soon Net Talk. Do I need all these lines? No, the services, and trying to figure out how our boxes interact with theirs, is a hobby.

AFAIK, if you had an Asterisk PBX system running with some SIP accounts, then configuring your Asterisk PBX system to register your voxox account is the same as the other SIP accounts.

Re: VOXOX with ATA
I did a test call today, and I heard a computer voice say that my password was invalid, but when I disabled the ATA and activated the application using the same password, it still showed a positive balance.
I do not know if they are deliberately trying to keep ATA devices from working, or if it is a fluke. After work, I will play around with it a little while to find out.

Re: VOXOX with ATA
I just received a response from the "help desk".
They do support the SPA2102 ATA (but no others), and will forward the settings to me.
I will post the confirmed settings once I receive them.
They are also checking into the problem of deducting incoming calls from the balance. They have acknowledged that it should not have happened.

"Hello,
At this time we cannot support ATAs with voxox. If you would like to inquire about a commercial service to use with the SPA2102 please visit www.telcentris.com, the parent company of voxox.
Thank you,

Re: VOXOX with ATA
Following are excerpts from the same person at Voxox:
ATAs can be configured with VoxOx, but we currently only support the SPA 2102. Let me know what kind of ATA you have, and if you are interested in configuring the ATA to work with your VoxOx service, and I will assist you further.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
-Matt Johnson
The SIP configuration has changed for security reasons. I will have someone contact you regarding the use of your 2102, and about fee and number questions. I believe we should be able to switch your number free of charge.
Let me know if you need anything else.
Thanks,
-Matt Johnson

I have never tried it on an ATA (yet).
I've tried voxox application...outgoing works, no incoming.
Tried to set it up on the asterisk at my home, it wouldn't register.
Got it working on PBXES, outgoing works, no incoming.
In any case, incoming should work if using voxox application first but it doesn't. I turned off the assistant and everything. Calls are always going straight to VM.

I did not try ATA but I use Voxox with eyeBeam soft phone.
Both incoming and outgoing works (I am behind home router - Linksys).
The settings:
user name: 1951xxxxxxx (your DID number associated with Voxox)
password: your Voxox password
authorization name: 1951xxxxxxx
domain: 216.151.151.132
I found these settings using network sniffer (Wireshark).

well I got the email back today from Matt Johnson and here what he said:
Mr xxxxx,
I was misinformed at the time, and under the impression we were capable of supporting SPA2102s. We do plan on having this feature available in the future, but for right now it is only available through TelCentris. Sorry for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused.
Thank you for your feedback and support during this beta period.

I also wanted to say that I was able to use RFKIP settings and I was able to set it up for xlite.
also I just tried that same setting into my linksys pap2 setting and it works for both incoming and outgoing.
so I am trying to figure out what settings to use inside of asterisk.

If Voxox isn't supporting ATAs officially, the clock is ticking on how long this workaround will work. We've already been down this road with Magicjack.

Re: VOXOX with ATA
If Voxox uses "standard" (not Yahoo-like) SIP, it can be used with ATA. I do not think Voxox will move out of SIP and I do not see why they should do it (at least, for paid users). It would be interesting also to "break" MajicJack (I am sure it is possible, but I do not have their device).

Ok...I deleted the trunk from Pbxes (outgoing ok, no incoming).
Created a new trunk on my asterisk using above settings, it registered but getting "this account number is not valid" message on outgoing?? Played around with the settings, no go. So no incoming, no outgoing! Trunk deleted.
Entered settings into ATA (pap2 v1). Registered, outgoing works. Incoming doesn't.
Hmm...it looks like my account is messed up for incoming at voxox side. I recall another user with no incoming who "fixed it" by getting a new account.
