[IA] Waterloo Slow weekend speeds

Well, my modem levels look good, but ever since everyone has gotten the speed increase, I notice my service to be extremely slow on the weekends.

The past 3 hours, I have only been able to see 3 to 5 mbps down. My upload speeds show normal at 2.65mbps.

Anyone else in Waterloo West side seeing slow speeds?

Of course CS wants to roll a truck, but their schedule and mine just do not match. Wish they could just connect to the line at the back of the house while I was gone.

That looks great for signal. Mine is always worse then that even on a good day. But yeah the speeds are about the same for me. I have an idea when mine might get fixed and I think since Oelwein feeds off Waterloo, I would expect it to get "fixed" around the same time. Don't have a definitive timeline but I believe it is a work in progress.

I didn't care too much about the speed so much as what it does to the latency for my games when it gets saturated for everyone. I have a thread on here somewhere that shows how it spikes at night really bad. Good thing no new good games just came out, otherwise it would be a big deal for me.

Your signal levels are hinky. Get a tech out and get downstream power closer to 0 (zero), and that should make your upstream power level higher (45-50 would be good).

BTW, I have been seeing some bad pings and packet loss on the AT&T side for a couple days now, and my speeds have been erratic at times, and I am on the Waterloo master head-end.

The fact that his modem isn't screaming to be heard is a good sign I would think, although I have heard some people like it higher for upstream power level . Depends on what the noise floor is I guess.

I have called in and had them tell me what the SNR is on the upstream for mine since that can't be checked by the customer.

The downstream SNR is great. But you seam to have a pretty strong signal coming in.

I think since your upload is fine but the download is slow points to congestion. It never hurts getting other things checked out in the mean time.

IF the UpTx is at 38 at the modem, it almost is surely below 36 at the tap which is failing. And yes it is better to have that UpTX level higher so it stays out of the noise, 45 to 50 is good.

Re: [IA] Waterloo Slow weekend speeds

Actually, my levels have always looked like that, but the downstream power level is usually closer to 0.

I use my own Linksys BEFCMU10 ver. 4

I believe it is overuse on the weekends. 7:35am on a Wed morning and everything is fine.

And actually, maybe something was changed. On Monday night, I could not sleep, so I was up reading and the internet dropped out at exactly 1:30 AM.

Last night, at 7:30pm, I did not see the prime time slow speeds like I had been lately.
