Can anybody talk me out of it?

Conceptually I like the idea of staying with a smaller company. In theory they should offer better service. However after postponing my move by a week the phone company disconnected and reconnected my phone. However DSLextreme's support has informed me that this has killed my dsl for at least 3-5 days. However only their billing department can even get that process started and they are only open M-F. They went through great trouble to let me know that this is my fault and ATT's fault, but of course no their fault of DSL extreme and they can't help me and neither can ATT, only the DSL extreme billing department. Now over that past 9 years or so, I've only had issues 10 times or so with my DSL. Everytime though the calling DSL extreme has not helped at all. They always shift the blame and offer no solutions and I think they always provide a healthy dose of attitude. Then I have to call ATT and everybody else only to eventually come here and appeal to George for help, which he does. Still though the phone company got my phone going again in no time and I can't help thinking they would have done the same if I had only had ATT DSL and isn't it cheaper.

Other than this forum and George, which I can't access when the DSL is down, is there any reason to stay with DSL extreme. I've totally transitioned over to gmail...

Also George can you please help me out and get my DSL going again. I'm moving on Thursday... so if it can't be done before that, please let me know... my username is mwhitney

Hi Mark -

Our support team was giving you the right information. If any changes in made on your phone line causing your phone service to be disconnected or go down it will force all services including DSL to be automatically disconnected. When AT&T disconnected your phone service their system in turn disconnected your DSL service. In order to get the service back up and running it requires us to place a disconnect / reconnect order with them. You will experience about 5-7 business days of downtime during this process. Unfortunately AT&T doesn't have quick process to reestablish DSL service on the line when it is disconnected.

If you are moving on Thursday, it may be best to have the service established at the new location. Are you using the same phone number at that location?
