Anyone else slow at night
I am not sure if others are having problems but here in central Ala I am. Last night the internet was as slow as dial up and this morning it is fast as lighting. I checked my speeds last night several times and I always got top download and and upload speeds but it would take forever to go to pages. I finally said the heck with it and went to bed. This morning it flies again. Is this latency problems again or do I have to many people on my network ?

. I am just saying that charter is coming to a crawl again at night. In the morning I could not ask for the internet to be any faster as a matter of fact it is faster than I have ever seen it. I have dealt with Charter internet problems for the last several years and this one is a new problem. My download and upload speeds were slow when the problems happened in the past, this time they are perfect but I could not get to a website. The thing would just sit there and I counted 35 seconds before I could get to ebay.

Re: Anyone else slow at night
yea for the past several days -all weekend and today I have been avg around 1mb download.. strangely.. my upload speed has been reporting around 1mb too.. while I am suppossed to have the 5mb down and 512 up.
charter of course said they see no problems, but this all started after I got them to admit the modem I have been using for past 6yrs is MINE and not a charter leased..

Re: Anyone else slow at night
I wonder if a Charter person is here to address this problem. It is back to a crawl again tonight. It takes about 20 seconds to bring up a website. I worked on a computer Saturday that had dial-up and I tell you it would bring up websites faster than this.

I changed the DNS numbers again tonight and it does seem much better. I used 4 2 2 2 and 4 2 2 1. Thanks and maybe that was the problem even though I had tried openDNS before. trig

Re: Anyone else slow at night
Yes, right now I'm a good deal slower than I should be.
Redding, CA -
Last week on Wednesday, 10/28 at around 7pm PDT I got the notice of the Power Boost. I ran a few speed tests to determine that I was getting 5MbsUp/.5MbsDown.
I recycled the power on my 7 year old Motorola SB5100 modem and ran another few speed tests. I was then getting 7.1MbsUp/1.1MbsDown. I thought that was a nice increase. It stayed that way until Saturday morning.
Saturday morning, I ran a few speeds test and my socks fell off... They were way high - between 12MbsUp/1.1MbsDown and 16MbsUp/1.1MbsDown. I thought that seemed too good to be true, but I wasn't complaining. This kept up until last night Monday 11/2.
Yesterday evening, and right now, my speeds are between 1.2MbsUp/.25MbsDown and 3.1MbsUp/1MbsDown. Yet this morning I had one speed test that returned 16MbsUp/1MbsDown.
Charter seems to be having a problem leveling their loads. I hope they get this smoothed out soon.

Re: Anyone else slow at night
I noticed it yesterday and again today, doesn't seem to matter what time morning or night.
Slow doesn't really describe it when it actually means web pages don't load for a minute (or not at all when I give up and close the web browser!) and they were almost instantaneous before.
I had to reset my modem the night before I got the Power Boost e-mail simply because the connection failed, that email was sent at 5 AM the next morning.
Didn't like that, if P.B. was being required somehow but I thought it was good after seeing how it was improving my uploads, but right now I'm hating all this.
However, I won't complain about P.B. if it isn't the cause of the current problem.
Haven't had time to check things like you others have, only been online to find info and send files.
Yet, I doubt I want to be messing with my settings... it was perfectly okay before, why should I need to change things?!!

Re: Anyone else slow at night
I ran another speed test this morning, and this is what I got:
Charter seems to have figured out part of their problem in Redding, CA, because now (6:34pm PST) I'm getting something more reasonable with a speedboost to 5Mbs down, but "up" still isn't the advertised 2X my .5Mbs.

Rooke @ 4th Nov 09:56PM:
Re: Anyone else slow at night
I take that back. Now the speed is going downhill again. This is not the 5Mbs that I'm paying for.
Just did another test to a different server and ...
Charter still needs to smooth things out.
