A former telemarketing company official admitted Friday that he scammed small businesses out of millions of dollars by duping them into paying for Internet services without their consent.

His company, GoInternet, defrauded up to 400,000 small businesses and individuals out of as much as $75 million from 2001 to 2004, prosecutors said. They tricked customers into receiving information packets that triggered charges of about $30 a month unless the recipient canceled the service.

Some Bell employees still do that to pad their sales ratio. Their argument is 'if the customer didn't explicitly say they didn't want it, add it on.'

They should have to return twice the amount they scammed. Then they should have gotten fired and any manager who lets that kind of crap go on during his/her shift should be disciplined as well.

This is fraud *period*.

Twice the amount is fair actually. at a 10% interest rate compounding every 7.2 years your money will double. Its 2009 and they did it in 2007. I'd say double the money is fair.
