[Equipment] VOIP Residential Providers and Wireless Adapter.

Hi all,

I've been on Vonage since 2006 and I have a Motorola VT2542 which handles my phone, my wireless, firewall, and switch.

I'm looking at a # of different providers that are less expensive than Vonage but haven't found one that I can use this specific router or buy one similar to it on the market.

Any other providers that will use similar hardware (maybe even this existing VT2542?) or will I be stuck using a phone adapter and then buying a separate switch/router/wireless for my network @ home?

Companies I'm looking into right now --

OOMA (their own equipment, but no wireless AFAIK)
CallCentric (my own equipment, but not sure what kind)
Voipo

Thoughts?

What exactly did you mean by your own equipment? If you meant your own equipment is the Motorola VT2542, then you will first need to unlock it first before you can configure it with other VoSP. As with CallCentric (CC), I believe it does support BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) because my CC non-commercial account configured on my Asterisk PBX system works just fine.

I meant BYOD. Not sure if my VT2542 will work as it is. Prob have to unlock it like you said.

Once you have your Vonage line terminated (after you have ported out your Vonage number if that's what you wish), then I believe it is legal for you to unlock your device.
