[ Homephone] Homephone Pricing increase in January

Bell is increasing all their home phone pricing plans by $2 come this January.

This was confirmed to me by a retention csr while I was negotiating a better pricing.

Increasing it again? didn't they just shove a $2 increase this year?

BTW, isn't the price regulated? They had to get CRTC approval for the latest $2 hike. Maybe the CSR was feeding you BS.

Absolutely! Bell tells the CRTC how much they're going to ream people next and, like all well-behaved flunkies, the CRTC rubber stamps its approval on it and goes on vacation.

The kabuki seems to fool enough of the unwashed masses into believing that they have control to keep them from rioting in the streets.

Actually, no it isn't regulated at all any more in urban areas. (those where they've got forebearance from Regulation.) Rural area costs though are still regulated.

Do you happen to have the retention line for them? I want to renegotiate my line as well.

Got this in my bill today under section for Telephone Services page:

Effective January 1, 2010, Home phone packages will increase by $2 per month and overseas long distance base rates will be changing. Bundle discounts will continue to apply. To modify or bundle your services, please call 310-BELL or visit bell.ca/contactus.

homephone is not regulated? does that mean that they can waive the `moving fee $55 and give us cheaper rates if they want to retain us`??

+1 on the image Fubar.

There is no running away from being milked, even if at a wholesaler.

My Nov 4 bill only says this:
"Effective January 1, 2010, overseas long distance base rates will be increasing. To modify your service,
please call 310-BELL or visit bell.ca/overseasld."
Nothing about that $2 increase for Homephone. They just increased my Hpmephone by $2 a couple of months ago, so maybe they're slow rolling that out to everyone. If they do increase mine again, I'll be getting my phone service elsewhere, just like I did for TV, LD, and DSL.

That increase is probably on deregulated exchanges.
