Just a heads up.......there are many people having issues with this build. I was reading up on it at the Acronis forum, and there are lots of complaints of freezing, and not being able to uninstall.
It's running fine on my Win 7 system though.

I uninstalled ATI 2010 Home and use ShadowProtect 3.5 now. I still don't care for that confusing, garish GUI Acronis now uses. I will download this update, though... Thanks, GateMan! :-)
[EDIT] Sorry about your Phillies... maybe next year!

I wouldn't waste your time Howie. I had the boot disk freeze on me after a restore finished up. I also get a few error messages when the boot disk loads.
Other than that it works fine, but I am going to image back to my previous build.
EDIT: Oh, the countdown clock is messed up on this build too.

As I recall build 5055 worked without problems--is that your experience?

Re: [Update] Acronis True Image 2010 Home Build 6029
Hey Howie,
Could you tell me a little bit about ShadowProtect 3.5?
Are back ups and restores fast?
Does in run well on Windows 7 64 Bit?
Is it easy to use and have a simple interface with out a lot of extra junk like True Image?
Can you make a backup restore CD?
Does it work well with out any errors most of the time?
Do they update it very often adding useless things? Like True Image LOL
Can you install it on 2 computers without having pay twice?
I have 2 computers in my home.
And last if I have a restore CD would I even need to install it on both my computers?
And do you think its wroth $80?
Also I see they offer a 1 year Maintenance plan for $16 Do you know if that can be extended for another year after that expires for another $16? Or would I have to pay the full price again?

Build 5055 does have an issue with some USB connected devices causing a BSOD - one of the files that causes the BSOD relates to ATI 2010 (using ERD Crash Analyzer to determine file).

Imaging/restore times are pretty much in line with TI (about ~6GB/min. for me).
I have no idea how it runs on Windows 7 64-bit.
It has a much better GUI than TI, IMHO, without the extra "junk".
When you buy it, you download a restore ISO (500MB or so) that you can boot with to restore your system.
I've never encountered an error in the year or so I've been using it.
Probably 2-3 build updates a year.
No, you'll need a license for each machine. You cannot use it on two machines.
I think it's worth it, personally
Maintenance can be renewed and covers new versions (i.e. 3.X-4.X). I don't have it.
My guess is that you'll stick with TI. ;-)

Re: [Update] Acronis True Image 2010 Home Build 6029
Using this version (build 5055) for the first time with a boot disk I noticed that finally the progress bars actually conform more or less to real time and actual progress versus previous versions apparently just being a show without meaning. According to Keizer they might have blown this too with build 6029.

Not bad--for the price! Apparently the boot CD is only for restore but certainly that's the place you'd want it most (I usually do backups and restores with a boot CD). The site is a little confusing on support of Windows versions. At two points it says XP and Vista support and a third claims to also support 7.
Thanks for the link!

ShadowProtect 3.5: Is it 64-bit ready? XP64 is my key interest. Currently using ATI 2009 without issue... just curious. :)

Paragon's free imaging option
I'm quite impressed with the new free offering from Paragon. Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 works with all flavors of Windows since 2000 sp4. It can do images of entire disks or individual partitions. One big plus is that the recovery media runs a full-featured version of the program instead of just a recovery wizard as is typical with most of the free programs out there. There is also a built in option to create the recovery environment on a USB flash drive. I'm a paid user of Paragon Drive Backup 9.0 and the only difference I can see is that BnR 10 doesn't have the Backup Capsule options (which I don't use anyway).
Try it for yourself: »www.paragon-software.com/home/db-express/
edit: Forgot to mention that it can do incremental back-ups too.

I needed to backup three PCs, and didn't have an external drive and found a 1TB NAS with 5 licenses(5 PCs) at Best Buy for $200.00.
I am very happy with it, after creating the initial image and bootable media, it is now set up to run incremental backups weekely.
It is Seagate's Black Armor NAS 110 and would recommend to anyone with more than one PC to protect.

Re: Acronis True Image 2010- Build 6029 / & Other Choices
Shadow Protect 3.5.5 is 64bit, Windows 7 ready.
I have it installed on Vista Home Premium x64. It took me about 50 minutes to image my boot drive to a USB connected 1TB external drive. (I have to find my eSata cable, then I'll switch to that, rather than USB)
The boot drive is Sata, 640gb with approx 120gb used. The image file on the external hdd is 87gb.
When I was using Acronis 2009, I took about and hour and a half to image 130gb from a 250gb boot drive to the same external hdd.
I have Shadow Protect scheduled to image weekly with an incremental image each of the other days. I'll post back when I have more info.
