Looking at switching to TekSavvy
Been with Bell for 11 years and dropped my unlimited service after they bumped the price up. Now have the 25 GB cap. It's time to switch. My speeds were about 4.2 MB with both services despite an advertised 1 MB upgrade.
Need suggestions on how to switch, i.e., the timing issue. Is there a way to get around Bell charging an extra month and then canceling my service immediately? Do I need to find some way of proving that I'm currently getting 4.2 MB with Bell so that when I switch, Bell doesn't stick a screw driver in my line somewhere and give me only 2 MB or worse?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: Looking at switching to TekSavvy
Best advice I can give is to call Teksavvy and discuss it with them. They will tell you how best to switch over to them. That's what I did and my switch went without any problems.
EDIT:
The best thing to do about your speed concerns is to take a screen cap of your modem stats as they are now on the Bell service and keep it handy in case Bell tries to pull a fast one. TSI can use that as ammo when filing a concern with Bell. Chances are tho that you won't have any problems.

Hello Belled Out (that has a familiar ring to it :D),
The typical method is to call Bell and get a cancellation date. This is the date upon which you will no longer receive service from them, and also the date up to which your bill will be paid. They owe you service and technically should not disconnect you before this date. So, unless something goes terribly wrong, you will have service up to your cancellation date with Bell.
Normally, there's no problem getting the customer (you :p) reactivated with Techsavvy provided you place an order with them for the date that the Bell service is expiring. You should do this in advance of course, but this should be no problem, as Bell often insists on a 30-day period from the day you place your cancellation order until the day they actually stop billing you and cut off the service.
It would also be wise to get a cancellation number (or is it just a ticket number?) from Bell as well as the representative's name and the time you talked with them. It is important to take precautions in the event that Bell wants to make things a little more complicated for you.
Like AkFubar said, your best bet is to call up Teksavvy and discuss this with them.
Looking forward to seeing you through this :)
