On Demand Error 4 - No IP

Tonight I began having trouble accessing my On Demand. I received Error 4. Did some research & found it can be a connectivity issue or strength of signal. Problem is, the error is occuring on all 3 tvs. I only have HD in one room so I accessed the Diagnostics on that box & found the signal looked good but the IP address was showing all zeros. It can't just be that box since all the tvs are having this problem. If I had my signal refreshed would this fix the problem? Or is it possible they are just having technical problems in the area & it will fix itself when they are resolved? I hate calling them, even when there are problems in the area they never seem to be aware of it.

Even thought you think the signal is fine, its probably not. Roll a tech, its probably just your house.

Error 4 is a general return error. If it's all TV's - you need a tech visit.

One thing could have happened was work done in the area and a mass refresh sent out from the Headend was not registered from those boxes. You may want to try and power cycle the boxes and see if this resolves the issue. If thise doesn't help you very well may need a tech to come out. As for the diag screen there is so much information there that can be useful, just have to know what information is useful and what's not...

Just thought I would post an update on what eventually happened. I waited 24 hours & had my signal refreshed twice and nothing. So they told me I needed a tech, I set up an appt. Before the tech could come out, the On Demand started working again on its own and Comcast called to let me know they canceled my appt because it was a Video outage in the area that had been fixed. This is one of my problems with Comcast... how is it after 24 hours of my On Demand not working do they not know there is an outage when you call to complain? This isn't the first time something like that has happened. Oh well, I'm happy it turned out to be not such a big deal though!! Thanks for everyone's help!

because by the time it gets to the call center it is already fixed, we are cool like that. If it went out immediately they would tell people they had an outage all day and real calls would be canceled. People always complain about the lack of outage notices but the cure would be worse than the disease.
