[E-MAIL] Webmail and pop servers are SLOW! Northampton, PA
We have been experiencing very poor service with rcn's mail servers. It doesn't matter if we access via webmail or use Outlook to access the pop server directly. At times, like right now, it's unusable. I've called several times to complain. Each time I get a person I have a difficult time understanding. And each time they try to tell me it's my router. It's NEVER been my router. I've followed their directions and unconnected the router from my connections and nothing changes. Something needs to be done. How can I file a direct complaint? I don't know how to get past the techs that don't know anything about the issue.

Have you asked for a supervisor when you call?

I haven't asked for a Sup yet. I'm looking for more information from other users to see if they also have difficulty. Maybe we're just one of the few to actually use RCN's mail service. My wife, also has a lot of difficulty with email. She also see the same slowness, but also sees another issue. She is responsible for sending out a newsletter to around 40 people. With RCN, it takes several hours until the email reaches the recipients. So today, I suggested she open a gmail account. The same email to the same number of recipients, was delivered in about 30 seconds.
So, I'm asking, who here uses RCN's email, and do you have any issues with it?

I have an RCN email account, but I only use it for communicating with RCN. Gmail has been the best email option for my permanent everyday use.

I moved my primary email account to gmail a year or so ago but used RCN pop for years until then.
Other than a few email service outages, I did not experience problems like you are having.
One possibility--I have sometimes had DNS issues with RCN. It's possible that the DNS servers you're pointed to are providing old information to your router.

Webmail has been opening up slower for me too.

I am experiencing the same e-mail slowness in Drexel Hill. Slow to open, slow to delete. Called support today. Was told there is a known problem going back to 11/5, they referenced ticket # NOC 235055. I asked for a supervisor to explain how this problem could go for so long unsolved. The customer service supervisor had no explanation except the problem is being worked on. This is not an acceptable answer, I requested further escalation and asked for a call from a supervisor that could give a better explanation, still waiting for a call.
