[hard drive] HD Space Missing

Hello There,

I have an issue with a customers hard drive getting prepped to upgrade to Win7.

This a recent IBM laptop that came with with Vista Pro 32bit installed and as you can see by the screen shot it is a 103gb partition with 98gb used. The problem stems from the fact that when I take all the folders on the C: drive and add them up I only come up with about 50gb of data. Does anyone know where the rest of the drive space is? System restore is not even turned on but may have been at one time. I am at a loss on this and would appreciate some input.

Thanks Much,

Mike

Have you tried 'clearing' the past system restore save points? Even if it was not clicked, there could still be some residual save points left over that have not been purged.

Right click on C:, Properties|Disk Cleanup|More Options|System Restore Cleanup

This should purge all copies that have been saved...

Thanks, I tried your suggestion and it cleared about 500mb. Any other ideas?

Freekin' ThinkVantage backup software had 50+gb of 2 year old backups hidden.
