ghosted old hd to new, now new shows bad parts?

I ghosted my old failing hard drive to a new one. After the ghost I did a check with the diagnostics from the manufacturer.

The new drive shows up as bad, but I tested it before I did the ghost and nothing bad showed up.

Is this "bad sector" list in MBR? How can I alleviate the problem.

The old hard drive had a ton of bad sectors and was getting worse.

On another note, it's an hp with a built in recovery program, that's why I had to ghost it. But when I tried to make the recovery disks, it said that a set had already been made. Any way that I can circumvent this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

how much space are these bad sectors costing you? unless it's several 100 mb, I wouldn't worry about them, drives are so big these days, whats a few meg right?

I'm 90% sure bad sectors are not stored in the MBR, but in reserved area of the drive, like some sort of fault list

maybe ghost copied the fault list?

the format command for dos/win98 has an option to re-test sectors marked as bad ... XP/2000 seem to be lacking this option.

hope this helps
