Can't connect to wireless network via Westell 327W
I'm troubleshooting remotely on behalf of others, so I apologize if I don't have all of the details.
We have a Westell Versalink 327W Router connected to Verizon DSL. A desktop connected to the router via an ethernet connection is still able to connect to the internet. However, I have two other machines that are no longer able to connect to the same unsecure network wirelessly (one XP, one Vista). Both machines are stil able to see the network on their lists of available networks. This is a recent problem as everything was working fine until yesterday.
So far, we have tried rebooting both machines and have also turned the router off/on, with no luck.
Any hints would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: Can't connect to wireless network via Westell 327W
I have the same problem with a Vista laptop and Westell 327W. I am using Verizon DSL. The Vista laptop can get internet connection with ethernet cable but not wireless. It can connect to the wireless network but not the internet. Called up Verizon support and they did not have a clue. After spending couple nights poking around all the settings, I could finally make the wireless connection to the internet. My old Westell 327w has an old firmware version 3.x. I downloaded the firmware update .upg file from Verizon support site. Dialed into the modem 192.168.1.1 and ran a local update under maintenance. The modem firmware was updated to version 4.x. The Vista laptop would not connect to the internet at this point. Even my Eee pc could not connect to the internet after the firmware update. The critical step is to uncheck all the Bridge function in the connection setting and the Vista laptop connect to the internet like magic. One can also turn on the 4X support in the wireless setting which gives a noticeable boost in wireless connection for the Eee pc.

Re: Can't connect to wireless network via Westell 327W
Disabling 4x for me solved the issue.
I also have a 327w and have had similar wireless issues. It only worked intermittently and had a habit of refusing for several hours. A temporary solution for this was vigorously power-cycling the router.
All my initial efforts included obvious actions like upgrading FW, but the issue persisted. Only recently did it completely die for two days. On the verge of giving up and demanding my ISP send me a different router (they provided the 327w) I was delightfully surprised to discovered that the "4x" feature is what was causing the horrible instability.
Not only is it stable after disabling this plainly useless feature (speeds remain the same regardless of its status), but my devices connect to it every time.
There have been many people who I've noticed have this problem, so I hope this post helped others with this shoddy router.
